Rutgers C/O 2021 Admissions/Discussion

My first post on this website! I received the Scarlet scholarship for $3500. I have a 2180 SAT (800 CR) and a 4.0 GPA.

Did you get into the Honors colleges? @jerseygirl98

@anitaclare234 I did not. I did, however, get into the honors programs for both SAS and RBS.

I’ve gotten into the honors colleges for both NB SAS and Camden SAS, however it does not appear for NB when I try to view my award letter. I can only view it for Camden, and then it says that I am not in the records. Anyone know why?

Anyone still waiting on Newark-CAS?

Is anyone who did RD still waiting for NB or have all the descions gone out?

Merit awards and stats: My son received the Trustree scholarship for $16k/year for SEBS and Henry Rutgers for $10k/year for SAS. His stats: SAT 1350; GPA 4.26; Class rank: 1.

Wish we could give it to someone - he’ll be attending University of Maryland

"Record not in database "?

@NewHokieMom Are you in state? And was he admitted to honors college or honors program?

Stats: 95 uw gpa; 33 ACT; 2210 SAT
I only applied to SEBS (in state). Got into its honors program and received no merit aid.

@brokebrowngirl im still waiting!

I got in Newark campus too.
Why does it say in my award letter that ur record isn’t in our database…? :confused:

how does one know of they are in the honors program?
:confused:

@steelersseven We are oiut of state - in Maryland. He was accepted to the Honors College for both schools.

@kainat1998 you would have received an email. I believe you can also check here: https://em.rutgers.edu/honors/Login.aspx

Yay! Yesterday, I got into UIUC and their honors program for Aerospace Engineering. I guess this ends my terrible journey with Rutgers. Yesterday, I got my Rutgers financial award and/or scholarships letter, and all I received was an annual unsubsidized federal direct loan for 5.5k. Funnily enough, if I choose to commit to UIUC as an OOS, it’ll cost the same, or even be cheaper than, Rutgers in-state.

Pathetic. Looks like a college that’s from a state I had no prior affiliation with is treating me better than a college that’s in a state my parents have paid taxes for more than 12 years.

Good luck! I’m rooting for all of you from the sidelines!

P.S. Can anyone tell me what kind of questions are in the questionnaire they send to students who ultimately choose not to matriculate to Rutgers? I want to prepare some responses.

@ByteZz Congrats on UIUC, that is great news for you! We are in the same boat as you. Rutgers offered loans only and right now we have an offer from an OOS private which is significantly cheaper for us (by about 26K) D prefers the OOS school anyway, so this likely ends our journey with Rutgers as well.

Rutgers was my pick (a parent pick) and I would still like for D to attend the admitted students day just so she can be sure prior to eliminating it, but I almost see no point now.

I am cautious and want to keep it in play a little longer because neither school was D’s actual top choice and we are waiting for other acceptances.

@Fishnlines29

Thank you so much! I’m going to throw the congratulations right back at your daughter! A 26k reduction is no small deal, especially when it’s coming from a school that your daughter prefers.

I’m cutting all of my ties with Rutgers because UIUC is the undisputed winner in a comparison between Rutgers and UIUC. Sure, I won’t be able to easily access more than 3 major cities (something Rutgers boasts). But the campus, academics, and overall job scene are way better at UIUC. A top-10 Aerospace Engineering program. It’s absolutely insane! I cannot believe it.

I don’t think you need to be very cautious. Sure, if your daughter is even a little bit on the fence, it’s best to keep Rutgers open. However, if she repeatedly says the private college is better, I don’t think you need to bother with Rutgers anymore.

Even though UIUC is spectacular, it’s not my top choice. Regardless, I’m ready to not give a damn about Rutgers anymore. That’s because I’m 100% confident that, even if I reconsider a million times, I’ll never choose Rutgers over UIUC.

@ByteZz

UIUC is an excellent choice for Aerospace Engineering. I am so happy for you! I have a master’s in civil engineering and work for one of the top 10 engineering consulting firm in the world. UIUC and Georgia Tech are both excellent for Aerospace. Good luck, you will be glad for your pick after few years. Study hard, work hard and success is yours forever.

May someone please chance for me for Rutgers Newark CAS, it would be so amazing if someone did because I’m worried… I’m currently a freshman at Rowan University I applied as a transfer

High school gpa: 3.09
Fall 2016 semester gpa: 3.05 (I got all B’s)
I put down a couple of volunteering/community service

I’m really worried since I wasn’t admitted to Rutgers NB SAS
