Has anyone got anything !!?
It’ll probably be tomorrow then
My status page is not loading. Maybe because of the amount of people checking. It was now fixed
Nope…maybe tomorrow
I’m checking and got nothing… will have to hold out hope for tomorrow. Was wondering if last years thread gave any indication to when official financial aid packets will come? Will there be scholarship info w the decision? A huge packet a few months after? I heard around Feb last year things came out, but not 100% sure.
@soccerchic33 I am additionally not sure. Other colleges, however, give financial information through the letter you receive in the mail. I am not sure if Rutgers does the same thing or not but my guess is that they do. Do not rely on me though it is really just a guess. You could probably find out online easily.
@DouglasMH3363 i don’t think Rutgers sends physical letters actually
@soccerchic33 Merit awards will be part of the initial admit decision. Financial Aid awards will follow in late Feb-early March I recall. Being a NJ resident resident we received nothing but fed loan offer ($5500). Received better financial aid package from out of state schools which made Rutgers more expensive for instate students.
That said, you will receive a fancy red folder package 1-2 weeks following being admitted so you can log into the RU site and pay any deposits.
@vixpixal You are right!!! My fault, thank you for telling me
Rutgers does send out physical letters sometime after the virtual acceptance. I have a junior (SAS Honors College) and a freshman (SAS/plans to transfer to Business) and they both received letters in the mail after their email/portal notification. Honors College notification is through portal some time in January or February. I don’t remember what happens with financial aid (I’ll have to ask one of my daughters). My son is in the application process now…
Financial Aid Office sends a postcard in the mail indicating that a financial aid award package is waiting to be viewed online.
Spoke with admissions office, to say that they were helpful would be an overstatement of massive proportions. The individual indicated that the only decisions given in December are for Spring enrollment. EA decisions would be by January 31st, as we already knew. The reason I convey this information is so students don’t get their hopes up that it could be coming soon. (Of course now that I’ve written this they will release decisions…)
So far my experience with Rutgers between general school visit, RBS visit and the application process versus the 11 other schools my D20 applied to is to point to a school that is in the bottom tier. The visit was haphazard and lacking in information. The RBS admin counselor had a chip on her shoulder and only cared about numbers not the students and the flow of information is just lacking.
So glad she has better choices out of NJ with excellent merit awards.
@smgins Happy that you were able to experience Rutgers firsthand. We felt the same way and needless to say it factored into my son’s decision not to attend. I think that response from Admissions is ridiculous. Yes, EA decisions are released by Jan 31st - however, they have all released decisions in waves prior to that date. January 31st is the ultimate deadline for notification and let me say they don’t even meet that date. Last year when my son applied, many others received decisions into February. I’m addition, financial aid decisions didn’t follow for several weeks after that. Some folks couldn’t make informed decisions on picking a school. And as I posted earlier, the aid offer was insulting.
My son applied regular decision, and received an email stating that he would be notified by Jan 31st. Kind of defeats the purpose of EA if everyone gets their decision at the same time. Don’t give up hope.
So we aren’t hearing back today or tomorrow? Last year seemed like some heard back on 12/19 in the evening
I think it does come out today, they would only say it comes out by January 31st so people dont crash their website all at once. In all the previous years, Rutgers has released its decisions in waves, and the first wave being from December 15th-19th.
Show me another school that disclosed an early release date (i.e. earlier than published) over the phone. There would little activity on the acceptances forums if everyone knew exactly when every school was releasing decisions (e.g. Purdue, FSU). With ~ 40,000 applicants per cycle, it is naive to think calling the office will result in disclosure of insider information. Think of the unintended consequence! If only 1% of the applicant pool called daily for super secret information, RU admissions would be receiving calls ~ every minute of the normal work schedule. As proof of the chaos and delays that would occur, without asking for a figurative show of hands, I bet many on this forum called yesterday based solely on the rumor decisions were going to be released on the Wednesday before Christmas.
I am hoping we hear back today, at least we can stay positive
