Rutgers Engineering Math Level 2 Placement Test

For students who have already taken the test, what are the biggest topics on the test? What should I spend most of my time studying? What did you guys find the most difficult? Thanks for your input!

The math placement exam is essentially the same as the regular SAT math sections with the addition of logarithms and exponentials. I don’t even remember there being trig functions on it. If you have been paying attention in your math classes, it should be no issue.

What about intermediate Algebra? Rutgers states that’s on the test but doesn’t give any examples.

From the placement exam bulletin:

Elementary Algebra. 30 minutes, 25 questions. This
section of the test measures your ability to perform basic
algebraic operations and to solve problems that involve
elementary algebraic concepts. The topics include
operations with real numbers, polynomials, algebraic
fractions and square root expressions; the use of the
rules of exponents; factoring; solving equations,
inequalities, and systems of equations; graphs of linear
equations; and solving word problems.

Precalculus (Level 2). 60 minutes, 35 questions. This
section of the test covers intermediate algebra, functions,
exponents, logarithms, and trigonometry.

I guess there are trig functions after all. Intermediate algebra is stuff like factoring polynomials, solving systems of linear equations, logs, functions and inverse functions, maybe matrices? Keep in mind that a placement exam is a way of assessing what level math course you should start in. If you don’t actually know the material covered in the practice exam, then you will probably have a difficult time starting out in Calc 1, for example. The exam should really be second nature if that is what you are aiming for.

Thank you! Your info really helped me know what I need to review!
