Wait, you got a 27 ACT score? I had the same score, but a 3.8 unweighted GPA. And I’m sure my essay was good…
But I was rejected…

@pokeabubble yea, I saw other people’s SAT/ACT scores and I thought for sure I had no chance. I really don’t know how else I would have gotten in, if it weren’t for my essay or weighted GPA. Did you take the hardest classes that your school offered? That may be the most important, since I only took 1 honors class since my junior yr and I am currently taking all AP classes. I also got into the pharmacy program at Usciences.

@stellak I’ve been taking Honors classes throughout my high school life, 1 AP class sophomore and junior year, and 3 AP classes Senior year. I also got into USP, but money is kinda tight…

@pokeabubble For Rutgers, are you in-state or out-of-state? I’m from north carolina. Also, did you apply by November? I’m still trying to figure out how I got accepted.

@stellak I applied by November (early action) and I’m also in-state.

Accepted 1/27! Finally! Posted stats earlier

Is there any merit scholarship for NJ residents?

njCave- if you applied by Dec 1 and wrote the essay, you should be eligible for merit scholarships. They said in a recent parent email that most of those have been awarded, but that they will be done by March, so there is still a chance. You have very good scores, but I wonder if it is harder to get merit money in pharmacy because it is so competitive. I don’t know.

runalum,
Thanks a lot for the input.
I will contact the admissions office to get clarification and proceed.

Regards,

Here are my stats… I was accepted last week. I only sent in my ACT scores. Like I said, I don’t really know how or why I got in? My whole Rutger’s Essay was about politics and how I really want to go into public office in the future. In fact, I just copy+pasted my Common App essay without even changing it to the Rutger’s prompt. I’m sorry if I come off as arrogant/cocky, I’m just as confused as myself. I’m definitely not going to Pharm though, so I’m not taking up any room.

Essays: Showed it to 5 teachers, all said it was a very compelling and impressive essay.

Profile:
Chinese-American
Wealthy Suburb
In-State

SoccerWolf- I’m pretty sure the essay is used for determining scholarship eligibility and that it said somewhere that your essay should ‘answer the question that has been asked’. They probably weight GPA and test scores most heavily.

Hm really? Makes sense. I didn’t receive a scholarship form Pharm, but did from SAS and Business.

I finally got accepted! This is my first choice school so I’m really happy! (Jumped out of my seat when I saw the ‘Admitted’; I was in denial for 2 weeks before they sent an email confirmation…)

My Stats are VERY BAD compared to others.
Out-of-state
No Class Rank
3.5 weighted GPA
1980 SAT
And a few extracurriculars.

I have friends with SAT 2100+ that got rejected. ):

I have quite a dilemma though. Rutgers is my first choice, but since I’m out-of-state, tuition is very high for me… I haven’t heard anything for Pharm scholarship, but I got scholarships for SAS and SEBS…

Are the tuition prices on the website for a semester or for a term?

I’m pretty sure it is $36,679 per YEAR for out-of-state! Congrats on your acceptance and scholarship!
