Rutgers Essay for Transfer Student

Hey guys and girls. I was just reading the required credentials checklist for Rutgers specifically for transfer students and it states the following, "An essay is recommended, not required, for transfer applicants".

Do you guys think that I should submit an essay even though it is not required. I mean it clearly states that it is recommended and therefor it can't hurt but I'm just looking for insight from experienced people. Thanks.

Scholarships are only available if you write an essay. IMO, it’s worth writing just for that.

Are essays used in determining whether an applicant is accepted or not? It seems that first year applicants must submit an essay.
