Rutgers Essay Help

I have been working on my Rutgers NB essay for a couple weeks now, but I keep changing it around and adding little things. What exactly do they want? I tried to explain how I would contribute to its diverse environment and how it would benefit me, without being too selfish or cocky. I also mentioned my interests in such, such as hobbies and my field of study.

I heard in another place that they just read it to check your sentence structuce and how well you write. Any advice?

Essay: Rutgers University is a vibrant community of people with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. How would you benefit from and contribute to such an environment? Consider variables such as your talents, travels, leadership activities, volunteer services, and cultural experiences. Only personal essays submitted via our website will be considered. You may enter a maximum of 4000 characters including spaces.

Did you say "You may enter a maximum of 4000 characters including spaces" - are you sure?

I think they want you to describe your personal experience - what have you done, where have you been, who all have you been with, what have you gained, what have you given - all these 18 years (or whatever your age is).

While the essay is not a personal bio, but you need to bring the uniqueness in your life and present it.

My 2 cents.

On the Application it says a maximum of 3800 characters including spaces.

I have edited this essay many times, from minor to huge changes. I have a lot of ideas and ways to right it, but I just need to settle for something. Thanks

I can take a look.

Its not edited yet nor final, but I will send you what I have.

Anyone else willing to help me out? This is the essay I had the most trouble and I need to get this out ASAP

I can read. And about the 4,000 - my bad, I read it as 4,000 words. Now when you said 3,800 characters..that looks more reasonable.

pm me over..i will give my reviews.
tx

PM over,please!

Pick ONE area where you will contribute to the diversity of Rutgers when you are there, e.g. Hillel if Jewish, Newman Club if Catholic, the alternative satirical newspaper (forget what it's called), it really doesn't matter...Search the website for clubs or activities of interest. They want to see you are passionate about ONE are and will BE INVOLVED, not just joining a group...All the fraternities join together once a year for a dance marathon where $$$ is raised for a specific cause...Diversity is not necessarily about an ethnic group...

Thats a thought, but it I need to mention a type of club or interest I will follow at Rutgers? I don't want to change my whole essay but that is something I can fit in.

So of all the different groups I would like to be in at Rutgers, I can only pick one and be passionate about it? That doesn't seem too fair now that I think of it. I would be willing to join a lot of things.

I can just mention a specific area out of the ones I like that I would contribute to.
