Rutgers -Fall 2010 applicants

@Emerica
That is really weird that you have not heard anything yet. I finished my entire application by Nov. 30 and had my SAT scores in by December 5. I was accepted on December 12 to School of Arts and Sciences, Rutgers Business School- NB, and the School of Engineering.
I have a 3.9 UW GPA and a 4.4 Weighted
SAT’s = 1150/1600 and 1800/2400
Math: 590
CR: 560
WR: 650
I would call up the admissions office just to check on the application since you applied so early and still did not receive a decision. Calling up also shows Rutgers that you are interested in the college so who knows it may help you get into your choices of schools.
Good Luck!

Thats something I dont understand because Its rolling, and the people who applied earlier, should have gotten their decisions before those who applied close to the deadline.

i just got accepted today for the College of Arts and Sciences! i applied for Mason Gross but i haven’t yet heard back from them about my portfolio. i hope i hear soon! here are my stats
GPA: 3.95 out of 4.6
SAT: 1730
vp of public relations for FCCLA
a few other clubs and volunteering

for all you people who are worried cuz you applied like 3 weeks b4 any of us did, but haven’t gotten acceptances

ppl like probably just got lucky. Rutgers is a state school and I think it’s the best one in New Jersey + their unique Pre-Pharm program, so they must get an amazing amount of applications. Supposedly the review process is just random, so you can’t really rush things. Give it some time til Mid-January, when scholarships start coming out.

I applied and all of my stuff were in 11/13/09
and I just checked my status and it the date suddenly changed o_o

Now it says, “Your status includes all required credentials received through 12/17/09”
That is not true! All my stuf (HS Record, APP Fee, SAT scores) were sent way before
12/17/09. Why does it say this o_o. I am so nervous…my status still says
“In Process” for the 3 schools I applied for.

strawberry: I’m fairly certain that that means that December 17th was when they last edited it; so if there were any changes since then, it would be updated to reflect that. since you got in all your materials far before that, you shouldn’t worry about that statement.

I applied November 1 and heard back Nov. 15. It was pretty fast, considering I’m out of state. Here’s my stats-
GPA- 3.5 UW, 3.68 W
SAT- 1890 ACT- 28
public high school in Ohio
applied to sebs, sas, and newark school of arts and sciences.
I really want to go to sebs for environmental science, but i am afraid that i will be really lonely at rutgers as an out of state student. I am really afraid that I will have no one to talk to b/c people from NJ will come with friends from high school or I will be alone on the weekends. What do people think of this? Anyway… I got accepted to fordham and I might end up going there because there are more out of staters even though I like Rutgers more. UGH idk.

hh…not too worry. In all likelihood, many, many kids from NJ will be in the same position as you…a bit nervous, apprehensive about meeting new kids, etc. It all works out fine in the end. More to the point, you probably need to decide if you want to go to a mega sized school like Rutgers or a smaller school.

@ hhmcincy91:

Rutgers is one of those places that has something for everyone. So don’t worry about being “out of place” because you’ll definitely find people to click with. Even though I love Rutgers A LOT, it’s a serious turn off to me to know that half the seniors in my grade end up going to Rutgers, and how most people end up going to SAS with the same intro classes and same dorms. I need a chance of pace.

But I’m also comforted by the fact that so many different people get accepted to RU from other places as well, international, OOS, etc. Area won’t really make or break connections, so you’ll be fine.

Regardless of what happens with the other colleges I’m applying to I’m probably going to go to RU because it’s cheaper than anything else and it’s 30 minutes away from where I live. So if you get lonely you can hit me up :P

Ok, cool. I actually kinda feel a lot better about this. I just heard that on the weekends, a lot of people go home so it scared me. I visited Rutgers in the spring and fell in love w/ it. I guess everyone is not gonna be coming in knowing someone. And I will be the first student from my high school to ever attend Rutgers, which is pretty exciting :]

Don’t worry about not knowing anyone! Sure, a lot of people will have friends and may stick with them, but a whole lot more don’t know anyone there either and are very friendly. I came with fourteen other people from my high school, but I really only see like three of them maybe every once in awhile if they live near me and never if they’re on a different campus (of New Brunswick). (unless I try to meet up with them, of course)

The weekends sometimes get quiet, but there really should always be people around. I know some people who haven’t been home since Thanksgiving.

RU New Brunswick is huge, so even if you did come in with a bunch of people from your state/high school, the chances of seeing them unless you’re in the same major/dorm are pretty slim from what I’ve heard. And the NB train station is just a walk so you can get to Philly or NYC to meet new people as well. A lot of people go home on the weekends because most people are from NJ and it’s just convenient to do laundry at home, eat at home, etc. I’m not going to lie, I will probably do my laundry at home some weekends and check up on my frog at home :stuck_out_tongue:

But since it’s in a big city and thousands of people go to RU, the campus will always be bustling with people. Good for the experience.

got into NB school of business and SAS…i’m declining admission though cause I got into TCNJ early decision.
:)

EDIT: oh yeah, I applied on the deadline, in case anyone is wondering how long it toook for a response!

Accepted and excessively happy.
SAS - NB
SEBS - NB
BS - NB

I applied the second of this month (12:05am, oh my) and heard from them this morning. I was so nervous they wouldn’t want me because I just missed the deadline, haha.

I sent in everything Nov. 27th and thought that the SRAR was submitted way before, but I forgot to click send on that! Just seeing it last week and quickly sending that (all I had to do was click “submit”), around when do you think I’ll get a reply? I’m so mad at myself for not checking earlier!

^ congrats! To you and everyone else that got accepted.

jerseykiwi - I think you have a great chance getting into the School of Arts and Sciences in New Brunswick. You probably won’t hear a decision anytime for the next week or so (since the offices are closed and are on winter break right now!) But most likely you’ll hear of a decision the week following New Years Day (so, the week of January 4th)

Best of luck to everyone else who applied and are waiting on decisions =)

The office get winter break too? lucky them but it’s going to kill me…making me wait 3 months for a decision…

I think they are just off for a few days because of Christmas, New Year’s …

Someone I know attempted to call them during winter break (trying to find out if they accepted him or not, haha), but failed miserably. They told him to wait after New Year’s.

I’m sure there are at least 2 or 3 people working in the offices right now, but they probably won’t notify you about a decision. If they do, jeez, they are quite nice!

I guess I’ll include my stats, in the chance that they may help someone:

Accepted - New Brunswick: School of Arts and Sciences, Environmental and Biological Sciences, Business School

Applied: December 2
In-state
Rank: 9/223 (top 5%)
GPA: 3.9 w
SAT: 1280/1600, 1900/2400, essay: 8
Quite a few volunteer hours.
President of SGA and community service club, vice-president of class, section leader in band, executive committee of other various clubs

Many people from my school with exceptional stats have yet to hear anything regarding decisions. I’m confident you guys have little to worry about.
