Rutgers Fall 2010 Transfer students

what is the average gpa to get into SAS these days?
im still waiting on mine too! ):
im so worried im getting myself sick lol.

I just checked my Rutgers status this week and I have been admitted to SAS and the other environmental school, it says in process for the school of engineering, which i really don’t care for I’m just happy i got into SAS.
They received all my documentation on December 23rd
My gpa from last semester was 3.6, previous semester 3.3, before that 2.7, (different schools each semester, i plan on staying at Rutgers) and my cumulative high school GPA was 2.0.

^Congrats! I’m sure you’ll get into engineering. What kind are you doing? Nice to see another girl in it. I’m doing electrical. People are always so suprised!

transferRU
I think they’d only have your SATs…remember when you took them, you had a chance to send them to 3 schools for free? If you put rutgers on that list, they will have them. But it will say on your Rutgers Status if they have them.
I don’t think SATs and highschool carry much weight…My SATs were too low for engineering (1260/1600) but I got into engineering as a transfer because I had a high GPA (3.8).

I only know one girl who is doing engineering at Rutgers, hahaha
I want to pursue cell biology and neuroscience  not engineering anymore.
Originally i wanted to go for mechanical engineering though.
I’ve been calling admissions and nagging them because i want to register for classes lol

i am really scared now. my college gpa is low. my high school gpa was 3.6 and i had a 34 on my act. my college gpa is a 2.6 from lehigh. =</p>

I sure do hope I get accepted after reading your post JenniferRU. I had a 2.0 at Purdue and at my new school I got a 3.53 fall tri, and just got a 3.46 winter tri. :(

They pay attention to grade trend, so if your grades went up, which mines did, they will note it.
Also, i visited the admissions office, i spoke with an admissions counselor. He explained to me what was hurting my application (specific classes that hurt my gpa in previous semesters) He gave me his card because i asked him if i could email him an additional letter to be added to my application to explain why i got those grades.
Shortly after e-mailing him my status was updated, so I’m pretty sure that helped alot :)

im getting really nervous too, i only have a 3.16 with 17 credits (from a public 4 year college in NJ).

might i ask what class was hurting ur application jennifer ru?

Well for example… the reason i got a 2.7 first semester was because they didnt let me drop a course, so i got stuck with an F, rest of my grades were A’s and B’s.
2nd semester again all A’s and B’s with the exception of C in precalc, which brought the GPA down. It looked bad because the F, and the C were both in math. lol

haha. yea thats what i thought. apparently ive been hearing they strongly look at math grades!
which sucks for me cus i only have one math course (required to graduate my cc) and i nearly passed! and i hate math lol.
so idk if that will effect my decision. hm.

but anyways! congrats to you!!! (: (:

Thanks  well it helped alot that i took calc. last semester and got a B+
What math did you take?

JenniferRU, that was a really good idea. My mom kept pushing me to talk to someone at admissions for my learning disability but I was nervous that wouldn’t look good. Congrats to you! Did you have to make an appointment ahead of time with someone? My application has already been submitted for a month now but I really need any chance I can at this point, my application is probably borderline and I’m getting nervous with everyone else’s good stats.

i only took precalc. ): haha.
but like i read u got in for engineering so technically im assuming u need more math than i do lol.
cus im just trying to get into SAS to get into the teaching program later (if i even wanna pursue that) lol.

transferRU u should talk to them i dont think it would hurt. if anything they’d make a point to notice it in a good way!

I think you guys have time. It’s only march. But it doesn’t hurt to call the school. I’m almost on the verge of calling Rowan…I got into all my other schools, but haven’t heard from them yet. There’s not really a thread for that school here so I can’t compare with other transfers lol

Hey transferRU, i didn’t make an appointment, i just walked in and said i would like to speak to an admissions counselor about my application. They are very nice, they will tell you what your chances are, and trust me, it gets noted that you show interest and came to visit. My suggestion is to just check what the hours are before hand so you dont come when their closed or something… my sister goes to Rutgers so she dropped me off
I’m a biology major, i didn’t get in for engineering… well it says in process, i got into SAS, which was my main objective.
Best of luck! :)

RUworried, I am most definitely going to talk to someone! I don’t know why I didn’t do this earlier

JenniferRU, thank you so much  Did you go to Office of University Undergrad Admissions in Piscataway? That’s where I sent all of my credentials so I’m just assuming. I want to call before I go, hopefully they are open on spring break. I hope it’s not too late! Thanks again! :)

Np
Go to the undergraduate admissions in Piscataway

just wondering you wouldnt happen to know the hours for the admissions department during spring break because i mighr go and visit as well

JenniferRU, I have one last question. Did you bring in your transcipts or were they able to bring them up for you?

NJNative, I just called the University of Undergrad Admissions. They are open over break. There hours are 8:30-4:30.
