I just enrolled into Rutgers a while ago and I am a bit worried about the Spanish placement test that's mandatory because I'm in the college of arts and sciences at New Brunswick. Can anyone tell me about the test, specifically how hard the test is and how long? also, if spanish has nothing to do with what I'm majoring in (bio) then what does the test do for me?

You not required to take a language at Rutgers.

The placement test only makes a difference if you WANT to continue learning a language that you have been studying in high school.

I say, try the best you can on the test. Some kids who know they won’t be taking Spanish (or whatever language), usually answered one question and just handed in their test and walked out.

Are you sure? I mean, I haven’t taken Spanish in a year and even though I’ve studied many years of Spanish, I completely fail at that subject so … are you sure that you completely bs the test?

i just took my placement test saturday and if you don’t really care too much about it, yea you can bs it. they make you stay for the entire listening section, but after that you can walk out which is what a lot of people did. the kid next to me probably answered 5 questions and then left.

True, i had German Placement test and i haven’t studied that horrible language in 2 years i didn’t understand anything but i answered a few question i did sort of get and left, a few other kids did the same.
