Rutgers GPA

Im thinking about transfering to rutgers after my junior year. What college GPA do you need to have to get accepted. I cuurently have a 3.45 partly because accounting classes brought my GPA down. I still think its a solid GPA and should be good enough to get accepted. If anybody has transfered to Rutgers, can you please help me with this.

coming from communi college? if not.....90% yes
if so.......75% yes

don't worry i think ur in(enjoy rutgers!)

I coming from a univeristy. Actually i spoke to a counselor and he told me my junior year first semester was below a 3.00 and he was concerned about the dip. I had above a 3.45 gpa or above for all my two years. I cant believe that he is going to isolate one semester and decline my admittance to Rutgers
Do you guys think if I write a letter explaining that my first semester I took accounting courses and I picked the wrong major. It was too late to drop because I was more than half way in the semester. I could say accounting was a highly technical field in areas that did not interest me. Honestly i hate accounting and I struggled with it. Im now a management major and im gettting really good grades. Maybe they will consider my explanation of the dip of grades junior year. Any help appreciated

Thanks Alipes07, much appreciated.

You should contact your adviser and see what you can do in the way of having those grades dropped. I go to a community college as well, and I know full well that at my school if you change your major, you can apply to have grades (related to that major) dropped. If you haven't already, you may want to look into this. However, regardless of all that...I really can't imagine you getting denied from Rutgers. I can't imagine anyone getting denied from Rutgers.

thanks Shamrock. I already sent the grades in to rutgers. DO you think I can still have them dropped. I wrote a letter to Rutgers explaining my decline. I said accounting was a highly technical field in areas that did not interest me. My grades for junior year were.
Intermediate accounting A-
management A-
Finance B
Cost Accounting C+
AIS C-
The accounting courses killed my GPA. Bear in mind, this is only one semester. I pretty much had a 3.5 or better all my two years. I go to school in NY. I hope rutgers considers my explanation because it would be real devestating to me to get rejected. I have an appointment to speak to a counselor this Monday. Im going to fight for my chance to make them understand I picked the wrong major. By the way, i live in nj. That should increase my chances of getting in. Sham, is it to late to get them dropped. I guess so. Any other suggesstions, Im really worried Im not going to get in and my dreams are going to be crushed.

First of all, I would never recommend writing a letter that tries to explain your shortcomings because that usually only draws negative attention to them. Second of all, it shouldn't be too late to get your grades dropped, but go talk to your counselor...they may have a different policy.

And most importantly, if you get denied from Rutgers...your dream is not crushed...just delayed. You showed interest in them by applying this year...if you get denied this year...you go back to your school, get those grades dropped if you can, do another semester, kick ass, and reapply. If it really is your dream...a few months shouldn't make a difference.

However! I should repeat...I've never seen anyone get denied from Rutgers. That could be because they accept kids from my county college without even looking at their transcripts. But I don't know. Good luck.

Do you think I still get in. I had a 3.5 or better all my two years and then my junior semester i had a 2.88. But this is the semester I wanted to not show rutgers. SHam I was unaware that I could drop those grades because of my switch in major. If anybody can give me a fair evalaution and tell me if i still have a shot. I wrote a letter explaining my decline. I said accounting is a highly technical field that did not interest me. Im still in the college of buisness but I changed my major to management. Is there anything else I should address in the letter to better my chances of getting in. Like sham said, I dont want to admit my shortcomings. Guys, Im really concerned about this. Im going to speak with a rutgers counselor tommorrow. Any suggestions of what I should say tommorrow. I dont want to spill my guts and ruin my chances. I just need to be objective and professional. Im a worked hard these past years and I dont want them to isolate one year and penailize me. I truly believe theres hope. If anybody has had a similar experience with transfering, any comments are appreciated.

Thanks
Ron

wow i feel for all of you guys,. i am a freshman in college and i got denied to Rutgers my senior year of highschool for SAT scores. i was torn but **** happens right? well life at home sucks and i want to reapply after i have a full year at college but if i am appplying for next fall, the college will only see my first semester at my county college. i am shooting for a 3.8 and so far have achieved it. i am afraid of being declined again. does anybody have anything to say about my situation?

retaking the sat’s may help if you can really improve on it if that was the main factor in you being rejected
