Rutgers Honors Program

I am a high school senior who has recently been accepted into Rutgers. I plan on majoring in Molecular Biochemistry and minoring in Spanish, premed track. At this point, Rutgers seems like a good option for me because it is close by and the tuition is lower than many of the other schools that I am interested in. I also like that it is a big, urban school with so many things to do and ways to get involved. I am wondering if any current students (or just anyone) knows about the SAS honors program at the New Brunswick campus.

I know that you are automatically considered and that there is no separate application, but when does Rutgers let you know whether they are offering you admission to the honors program?

Do you think that I have a chance of getting in? I have a 4.5 weighted GPA and a 2180 SAT score with strong EC's, some leadership, and 200+ hospital volunteer hours.

Also, can anyone give me more information on the new Residential Honors College that they are building for next year's honors class?

Thanks so much!!

Aight so you get an email about the honors program sometime next year. I think they tell you about it when you get information for revisit days, so probably between January and March. With your stats, you will definitely be able to get into the Honors Program, and trust me, the program has a lot of really smart folks so you will definitely have a blast if you decide to come to Rutgers.

As for the Honors College, info about it is quite limited but the basic jist is that it is a college for first years only and it houses honors students from all of the honors programs (RBS, SAS, Engineering etc.). The Honors College is separate from the SAS Honors Program and has its own programs and seminars and classes. It is a different experience altogether that for some reason (this pisses a lot of the Honors students off since we don’t get the chance to live in the new facility).

Hope this helped.
