Rutgers Important Question

I'm a senior and I've been accepted to Rutgers Newark for Economics. I was wondering, is there anyway I can change my major and hopefully get into New Brunswick because I'm really not fond of Newark.

Where else did you apply? Did you get rejected from NB? I don’t understand why you even applied to Newark if you really don’t want to go there. There are better ways to transfer into NB than via Newark, imo.

Yeah i applied for engineering at NB but got denied and my second choice was economics at NB and I also did not get in so they said I was accepted to Newark.

Bezz, I’m assuming you applied economics at SAS right? hmm the only way to transfer is to do a couple semester in Newark, then transfer to New Brunswick. If you get accepted in SAS for Economics, you could’ve gone to SAS then transfer to New Brunswick after you completed your pre-reqs.

nic I don’t understand your reply as SAS is part of the NB campus. If people apply to the Business School (is that what you mean Bezz?) in NB, they also usually apply to SAS. That way if you don’t get into Business, you can start out in SAS and then transfer into the Business school later. At least it gets you in NB. Most people do not declare their majors until end of sophomore year so I don’t understand ‘applying for your major’.

Bezz if you really want to go to NB for economics, and you haven’t been accepted, go to a community college, get good grades, and transfer into SAS or Business your second or third year. I know lots of people who did that. I went to community college my first year and transferred into Rutgers Pharmacy school the year after that.

Keep in mind that if your SATs weren’t great they may look at your college GPA more so be sure to do well.

@rualum, oops you’re right, they usually do so.

I agree 100% with you regarding the community college. I’m in my last semester in community college and I’m transfering into business school in NB next fall. I just got accepted a month ago. This community college really helped me fix my GPA and saved me a lots of money.

Thanks guys i’ll take it into consideration!
