Hello everyone. I was accepted into all three of these schools. But I am having trouble deciding. Here is the rundown of opinions I have for each school. I want to major in Business or finance.
Rutgers- I really like Rutgers, I think it’s a very strong school and gives me a lot of opportunity. It’s also close enough to where I live where I can drive home, I want to live on the campus at least for my first year. The problem I have with Rutgers is I was only accepted into the school of arts and sciences, not the business school. Meaning I would have to work as hard I can my freshman year to have a chance to move into the business school. I am willing to do that but my parents will not really approve because they think that a degree from sas means nothing. They said it, not me, I am just trying to get into the business school.
Marist- It was definitely the nicest looking campus, strong business program, welcoming people. But it is still a lot of money and I am really thinking if it’s worth it to get a degree here or not versus trying to get into the business school at rutgers.
Seton Hall- I know they have a nice program here but I kind of want to be away from home so I probably will be crossing this one off. But always an option.
I am indecisive as of now. I am going to work hard in college wherever I go it is what needs to be done. I can answer questions you might have, but what I really need to know is what seems the best option for me based on what I’ve said and how these schools perform/rank/quality and value.
I know OP will cringe at thus suggestion, but is Rutgers Newark a possibility? Have known students who started at Rutgers NB SAS, and transferred to Rutgers NWK, because they couldn’t get into RBS.
Part of the answer will come from what is affordable for your family.
I am always nervous about going to a school where you are not accepted for the major you want. Before choosing Rutgers I’d do a ton of research about what it would take to transfer into the b-school and you would need a Plan B on what to do if you don’t get in to the b-school.
Rutgers, for both quality and price. If it turns out that you can’t get into the business school later on, you could study something related like econ.
Would it be possible to ask someone at Rutgers about the percentage successful transfers between the schools? Is it based purely on GPA? I would think this comes up often enough that someone at Rutgers should be able to give you a response or at least tell you where you can look it up. You can also google it and hope you land the proper Rutgers web page which explains in detail. Do NOT rely on anecdotes from the Internet.
