Rutgers Newark or TCNJ BA/MD Program

Hey guys I was fortunate enough to have been accepted to both Rutgers Newark and TCNJ med programs with NJMS. i am having a great trouble deciding which undergrad school to commit to. Any current TCNJ/ Rutgers Newark undergrads able to give some insight as well as anyone else with thoughts. I'm an in state student so TCNJ is not too expensive for me after scholarship.
Pros of Rutgers Newark: Greater research focus, absolutely free, diversity
Cons: Safety???, Academics

Pros of TCNJ: Safer area, strong academics, good campus food lol
Cons of TCNJ: Cost like 17 k, less research.

Thanks in advance to anyone that give me some thoughts and opinions!

I was in the TCNJ program and really enjoyed college. But unless you love TCNJ or hate Rutgers, I’d definitely take the full ride; med school is getting really expensive. They are pretty comparable academically, just big school vs small school mostly. Let me know if you have any questions about TCNJ though.

@biofreak21‌ congrats on those acceptances! I’m a junior right now and am looking to apply to Rutgers this fall, so could you please give me advice on what it takes to get into the program? Thanks!

@sarah10929 there are lots of previous threads that give a lot of advice on applicatons. I also followed the 2012 thread very closely and it had lots of good advice.

@biofrek21 I would go with the cheaper school and the better research unless you are a super paranoid person about safety. I think safety issues just require some common sense of where to be at what time. I thik research and money are both very good reasons.

Don’t do rutgers newark. Definitely go to TCNJ. So much safer and nicer campus.

I would do Rutgers with the free tuition and greater research opportunities with the medical school and it’s research available close by in the same city.

have you lived in newark? My sibling goes to NJMS. It’s a good training environment for med school students, but for people who want to enjoy undergrad, it’s not ideal whatsoevver.
