I intend to major in business, which school is better? I live in NJ.

UMD is def better in business their business school is 36th.. i know rutgers isnt above but i dk where it stands

id say maryland.. i got in there too..i may go but i have other choices..i live close to rutgers and didnt apply b/c i wanted to go a little farther away so id say umd for the experience but i mean its up to u and where u feel comfortable

Depends on a lot of factors including money, location, etc.

UMD, College Park is my vote...also, eventho it's big, much more of a campus feel, if that matters to you.

You can be very successful from either. It all depends on how involved you get on campus... there are plenty of people at Rutgers who land internships and jobs at Goldman Sachs, etc. If you prove your leadership capabilities, you can do well anywhere. So my advice is go wherever you will be able to succeed. If you can see yourself doing well at either place, go for the cheaper price tag.

Also, perhaps all of the mud slung at Rutgers business may be unwarranted: http://business.rutgers.edu/newsDetail.aspx?id=68. Maryland ranks 25th on the Businessweek rankings, compared to Rutgers' 32nd.

Rutgers is a much stronger school as a whole than UMD and has alot of the benefits that NYC schools have. I go to NYU Stern and I am interning at JP Morgan Chase and I know atleast 3 rutgers kids that intern with me and they are pretty well prepared. So i would go with Rutgers

If money isn't a factor, choose UMD. It's not spread out like Rutgers is, their campus is prettier, and their business program is much better.

the thing is i live in nj and obviously like it here, so i dont want to leave. but at the same time i want to go to new places and meet new people. i have been to umd before, i stayed there for 3 weeks for a highschool college program and i loved it. the campus in maryland is better than rutgers, but i also like the rutgers campus.

...You're still going to meet a lot of new people if you go to Rutgers.

I come from East Brunswick, the school that sends the third largest population of students (according to facebook pulse haha). To be honest, I only bump into people I knew from HS (that I wasn't friends with) pretty rarely. You will meet a ton of new people... and from other states as well. I've met people from Florida, Wisconsin, etc., though I'll admit that with 90% of the school hailing from NJ, Jerseyans will obviously make up the majority of who you meet.

On a side note: are people from Maryland a much more exotic species??? :)

haha.. supermatt, I went to North Brunswick HS. Know any people from NB???

No, I might know some as aquaintances, but not intimately

KaRU, i go to NB, senior right now...what class are you?

brownman5.... I graduated in 2004. I am a junior at Rutgers.
