So I am a Junior in a public school in NJ looking to get into the Rutgers Pharmacy Program. I have heard mixed things about the Pharmacy Program and the acceptance rate/statistics and i would really appreciate it if a few pharm students could enlighten me =)

Rumors about "random" admissions where a kid with a 2200+ gets rejected and people with 1900's get accepted --> to what extent is this true?

Admission Statistics --> i currently have a 3.92 UW and 5.23W GPA and a 2200 on SAT 1 as of now, will that be sufficient to get into the program for an instate applicant or should i get my SAT score higher? (GPA is going to be significantly higher after this year)

So from what i am hearing, all the pharmacy admissions looks at is SAT score and GPA with complete disregard to essay and any extracurricular. Again, to what extent is this true?

All in all, it would be a great help to me and many other prospective pharm students if anyone on CC were able to shed some light onto the pharmacy admissions process and statistics

Last note: could anyone reading this please post their stats and if they were accepted or not, it would be a HUGE help.

People who have lower than 2000 on the SAT are seldom, if not never, admitted. Here is what they look for in each program: [Rutgers | Rutgers Admissions](http://admissions.rutgers.edu/Academics/AdmissionsProfile.aspx)

The School of Pharmacy generally selects applicants who are top 5% of their graduation class. If you are top 5% of your class, you are in a good shape.

That’s correct. Since Rutgers is a state school, your essay and extracurricular activities weigh VERY lightly. I have a friend of mine who’s in SOP right now, and when he was applying, his extracurricular activity was BLANK other than maybe 1 or 2 clubs.

see the problem is that my school does not rank, but i have only gotten one B in 3 years hear and i know for a FACT that i am atleast top 10% just by my grades, but again, my school does not rank…

Random admissions doesn’t really happen to my knowledge. Everyone I knew who got in had high scores.
Your SAT and GPA aren’t too shabby at all - good job
I wouldn’t say the “Disregard” the essay or ECs entirely. Although they don’t matter as much as for private schools, don’t neglect to make your essay decent-sounding.
