variable if SOE isn’t your top choice, why waste your time inquiring about a scholarship that you don’t really want?

Actually, I wanted to inquire about SAS and SEBS scholarships, not Engineering.

Seems like it’s a competitive year for scholarships at Rutgers.

Do I think calling will help? I think it would help if they honestly made a mistake, but they are not going to give everyone who calls more money.

Awards will vary between schools. That is normal.

Do you think it makes a difference in the award if I am 100% sure I will enroll?

I got Trustee for SAS and SEBS, and Carr for RU NWK. My stats are rank 1/~350 (4.2 GPA) and 2210 SAT.

Does anyone know if the Trustee award makes attending Rutgers free? I would commute if I decide to go there so i wouldn’t pay for room/board.

How much is the Trustee Scholarship? It should say it on your award letter. Tuition and fees for in state is up to about 13.5k, so I bet the Trustee would cover all of that. In fact anything in excess of tuition and fees you would receive as a refund check, which is pretty great.

Only got Scarlet Scholarship for 2240 (650CR/800M/790W). Was hoping for Trustee or Presidential Can you negotiate scholarships?

where do they post scholarships? How do i access them?

you should get an email

I received my scholarship information today and I got the Scarlet Scholarship. I was surprised because the criteria for the Presidential’s Scholarship states “Competitive academic credentials, minimum 2250 combined SAT or an ACT score of 35 and an A grade-point average to compete. Renewable with a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and offered for a total of four years.” I take mostly AP all classes, have a combined SAT score of 2260, a 4.2 GPA and I have already received letters about the Honors Program.
Anyone have any ideas why I did not get the Presidential Scholarship? Was my GPA not as high as others’?

I sent in my application on November 30th, so I didn’t get accepted until today, but I should get Presidential, seeing the stats on here:

2330 SAT (760 CR 770 M 800 W 12 essay)
800 Math2
780 Bio M
770 History

Valedictorian of 432 (same school as epicdude’s back on the first page )
5.2 Weighted
4.0 UW GPA

Accepted yesterday, got the Presidential Scholarship today for SEBS and SAS. :)

2310 SAT superscore, 2260 single take
5.39 weighted GPA/4.0 unweighted GPA
7/460 class rank

The criteria for the Presidential Scholarship are minimum requirements, meaning anyone who doesn’t meet the criteria is not in the running to receive one at all, and those who do meet it will be considered. Since there are only a limited number of scholarships available and the applicant pool is becoming more and more competitive, many people who meet the minimum requirements will not receive a Presidential Scholarship.

The Trustee Scholarship I received is 16k/year. If tuition/fees are only 13k, where does that remaining 3k go?

What are the requirements for the Trustee?

wow awesome stats guys!
I just got notified of my Presidential Scholarship through email for RBS, SEBS, and SAS. This is definitely making me look at Rutgers in a new light, free is the best price after all. I’m really surprised I got it considering some of my scores (SAT IIs mostly) were not that good. Guess they’re taking a more holistic approach.

@thejerseygirl
You receive whatever excess scholarship funds after paying your term bill as a refund check. Keep in mind that if you choose to live on campus, the cost of attendance would be around 25k. If you were to commute though, tuition and fees would be about 13.5k and you would receive that excess 2.5k as a refund.

Also, that 13.5k number is based on tuition and fees for SAS. If you enroll in SEBS, Pharmacy, or SOE, tuition is about a thousand dollars more.

@silazar @thejerseygirl
what were your stats?
I’m pretty upset I didn’t get more, Rutgers was my top choice

@walkingdead I posted my stats on the second page of this thread. I feel like the scholarships are a bit arbitrary at times.
