Rutgers Spring/Fall 2011 Transfers!!!

Yup nic! I believe you and the others are next… my file should be complete Tuesday (begged a few favors to get that HS transcript faxed over from a school I didn’t even get credit from!)

Ahhh, it’s so nice to think we wont have to wait till April!! :)

Congrats Yanksfan! That is the earliest transfer acceptance I have also heard. Yanks - I also got waitlisted and denied last semester and from the letter i got I believe it was cause they had not enough room… Maybe I should write letter…can’t hurt right? Lol

does anyone know what kind of chance i have for Rutgers School of Engineering, or SAS, as a freshman transfer, if I havn’t taken calculus yet?

I put on my application that i plan on taking calc 1 in summer session 1, calc 2 in summer session 2, and physics 1 in summer session 3. will they see this as a disadvantage?

Stats:
College Freshman
GPA: 3.4
HS GPA: n/a (homeschooled)
SAT: didn’t submit
Credits: 29 by end of year
Applying for: Materials Science & Engineering
Essay was about my interest in nanoscience :D

I believe that Rutgers want applicants to finish all their prerequisites by spring term. It is unlikely that you will be admitted to their school of engineering without completing the prerequisites. You could apply to arts and sciences and then transfer the following semester.

Nanotech - You definitely have a good shot at SAS if you’re instate. As for engineering, I know they are very, very competitive. Reading there website, it seems like they want 2 semesters of calculus - and most colleges don’t consider summer session. Like, it will be tranferred over, but it wont be considered in admission (you could potentially fail it, I think the feeling is).

You could always transfer to SAS to engineering for spring term (you must earn 15 credits, and complete prereq’s). Have you completed all the other pre-reqs?

dkman- No it can’t hurt at all, go for it!

i have all the other prereq’s, i’m just missing calc and phys 1 :frowning: i did a really strong essay though, and ECs are very good. probably more fitting for SAS, so if i get in there i’ll probably transfer for spring semester then, could be worse :D

I agree. You have a good chance of being admitted to SAS. If you do not get into engineering, you can transfer the following semester.

Congratulations Yanksfan!
I assume admissions has many applications now considering the priority deadline is today. Hopefully it won’t take much longer for the rest of us.

I just got admitted to The Ohio State University, also one of the best in the Nation, and the World. I keep waiting on my Transfer admission to Rutgers-New Brunswick SAS for the Fall 2011…

Congrats quiestsoul! I was going to apply there and the typical midwesterns (UMich/UW) but decided I needed to be near NY/DC. But yes, it’s a great school… You think you’ll hold out for Rutgers? We might have to wait till March! (or even April…)

Well, the first time I applied to Rutgers I got my admission decision on January, so I think anytime this month I might get a response, and so do you, if they still review applications fast. The admission notification date is just the last day to notify, I believe this month they will review thousands of applications and respond accordingly, considering they have to arrange for placement tests, and other elements of the admission process.

Oh wow… really? I thought the typical time was Mid-march (just from reading past years).

When did all of your application materials go in last year? Unfortunately I’ve had to have my HS record sent 3x, and they just got it today so my app wont be complete for about 2 days.

I sent the application in Mid-December and thought I was too late, but I later read they had rolling admission deadlines, and SAS was still accepting applications, and completed the application the first week of January, and got a response 2 or 3 weeks later.

Ohhh, but you’re talking about HS acceptances, right? They accept them in January…

Yes, possible… When did yanksfan41805 apply, and was it a Transfer?

Yeah, oddly enough he applied 3 weeks ago as a transfer and already heard back, but I’m pretty sure that is somewhat rare.

And as of today all my stuff is in! Woo, but that also means I’ll probably have to wait… considering a BUNCH of people just finished their apps too… Ah, keep my updated guys!

Also, who again is going to be a sophomore? Anyone planning on living on campus (especially college ave)? We’ll all have to see each other at STAR days or something!

I applied as a transfer for Fall 2011. I sent my application in back in September, but just sent my fall grades in 3 weeks ago. I’m still waiting on a decision.

I go to a NJ Community College

Major: Engineering
GPA: 3.9
Credits: 52 currently; 69 when I graduate
HS: Top 10% and 3.8 uw gpa

I Applied to SOE and SAS

Lol, ziggy - you are IN.

Ziggy: you have 99.9 % chance of getting into both schools.
