Rutgers Transfer Fall 2015

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a nursing student at William Paterson University and its just not the school for me. I tried to come in with an open mind but I am finding myself having several issues with the environment/way things are done and its gotten to the point where I dread stepping on campus. The main reason I chose this school is because of my financial situation and money I had received. However, after unfortunate circumstances, I am losing my scholarship due to being removed from the honors program. Thus, I am essentially paying full price to attend a school that I really cannot see myself spending the next four years at. Thus, I am thinking about transferring into Rutgers New Brunswick. Now, I know that they do not accept out of school transfers for their nursing program, so I would essentially be entering the school as a different major and then possibly applying into the nursing program. Either that, or I stick to my major change and continue on with my life.

My main questions are the following:
1. Is it possible to transfer in as a different major (kinesiology, etc) and then apply to the nursing program and change my major again? Or are major changes closed for transfers?
2. For any of the transfers/people who have gotten into the nursing program as transfers, how are they with the transferring of credits? I already have health science courses under my belt (Anatomy & Physiology 1 and 2) and AP credits that count towards gen ed. Would those transfer over or is it really up to the school to decide?
3. Would it be better to stick to the major I have changed to (most likely kinesiology or public health), or should I attempt to get back to my nursing major?
4. What are the chances of me being able to get into the school of nursing in the case that I do decide to/am allowed to apply?
5. What are my chances of even getting into their school in the first place, and how heavily do they focus on high school/college transcripts and SAT/ACT scores?

Currently, I have a 4.0 GPA but that may possibly change to a 3.8/3.9. In high school, I had a 4.3 GPA and a 1780 on my SATs (not the best test taker). I am trying to transfer as early as possible to prevent issues with transferring credits and delayed graduation.

Thank you all for your responses and taking the time to read this wall of text!
