I got accepted to both Rutgers and UMD, so I just wanna hear some opinions on the Comp Sci and Math programs to compare the two. I'm not looking for rankings, which I could find anywhere, but rather the opinions of current students or anyone who can give some insight. Thanks.

I had a cousin that happen to go to each of the schools and the one from maryland definitely says that the way he learned things are more in-depth compared to my other cousin from Rutgers. Don’t get me wrong, they are both great schools and I currently go to Rutgers, but from what I here, Maryland computer sci prepares you better for the outside world.

Thanks. I have the same feeling, but the out-of-state cost – even with scholarship – is a bit of a turnoff.

My friend’s son is very good in computer science and he chose Maryland. A lot of times computer science majors choose a certain school because it has a specific program that isn’t offered somewhere else. Another friend’s daughter (another very bright student) chose Rochester Institute of Technology, I think because they have a program in game design.
