I'm planning on majoring in poly sci. and/or econ. Is Rutgers a better school for these fields than Case Western Reserve University.

DSS was accepted to both and is interested in poli sci. We visited Case after he was accepted and were stunned to learn that they have only 7 faculty members in their poli sci department, and they don't even offer courses in political theory. I checked the other schools where DS had applied and found Rutgers has 39 poli sci faculty - quite a difference. Our experience at the accepted student's event left us feeling Case is not really committed to the liberal arts.

Thanks alot. That info is really helpful.

keep in mind that rutgers is alot bigger as well---when it comes to comparing the amount of poli sci teachers----even though i'm not taking a side here

There's the info about the polisci dept from the catalog. You can see that there are a lot of courses the dept offers if you click the link on the bottom.

You might find this interesting also: www.eagleton.rutgers.edu
They do a lot of things... I know they have fellowships and stuff like that and I've attended a few lectures there... it's a nice place.

Of course, I don't know about this dept in comparison to Case, I'm just showing you some stuff about the dept. here.

Check out these links for econ:

If you want to speak with someone at Rutgers about your choice (or at Case, for that matter), contact the undergrad advisor of these departments. They'd probably be happy to speak with you. I know Jeff Rubin is the advisor for Econ, I don't know about polisci... if you search around the polisci website you'll find it I'm sure.

To contact them, you can always search up anyone's rutgers email at search.rutgers.edu
