My son has 2260 SAT (1560 w/o writing)
4.0 non-weighted avg from one of the NYC Specialize H.S.
5 in all AP classes and decent ECs but was rejected from Harvard, Princeton and Columbia

He did get full scholarships to:

Fordham
Rutgers
St. John's
Macauley's Honor's Hunter

He is very disappointed with not getting into the Ivy's and honestly doesn't want to go to any of the schools he got into.... so please any advice on which would be the best choice for pre-med?

Thanks!

He didn’t apply to any SUNYs, like Stony Brook, Geneseo, or Binghamton?

Honestly, a lot of ivy-caliber students opt for Macaulay Honors. Hunter, especially, is a top choice. I think his classmates at Mac Honors will be just as intelligent and motivated as ivy league students. In fact, people even turn down the ivy league for Macaulay Honors. They don’t operate under CUNY standards at all.

Is it St. John’s Pharmacy or regular?

Fordham is the highest ranked school on that list at 61, with Rutgers at a close 66. Also something to consider.

If he has full rides to all of them, then whichever he feels fits him best. Doesn’t really matter, any of them will allow him to apply to medical school.

I didn’t get into any of my top choices, including Ivies (ended up at my safety), but I wound up being happy here. Don’t let the fact that he doesn’t think he’d be happy at these schools prevent him from actually being happy at one of them.

Of those I think especially highly of Rutgers.
