Rutgers Vs. Fordham??? WELP!!

Hi!
I have been accepted to both Rutgers New Brunswick and Fordham Lincoln Center.
However, because I am from New Jersey, I did not get much Financial Aid from Fordham but a lot more from Rutgers. For example, it will cost me around $10,000 a year to attend Rutgers including dorms, whereas Fordham will cost me around $30,000 a year without dorms. This means I would be commuting to Fordham, but since I live fairly close to the school it would not be too much of a hassle.

I have been to both campuses and have liked them both for different reasons (city vs campus life). They both have given me different college feels, and I’m 100% split between the two. Anyway, I would like to attend Fordham slightly more because of the location, but I do really want to try the dorm lifestyle.

I also have been waitlisted to NYU at the moment, but if I do not get in for this fall, I do plan to transfer to my dream college NYU after freshmen or sophomore year in college.

I am not sure which I should choose and I have to make my decision by tomorrow. What do you guys think?

Rutgers and save the tuition money. Enjoy dorm life.

My S went to Fordham and loved it but I would also vote for Rutgers and living on campus for $20k less/year.

As a bit of unsolicited advice I think it is a terrible idea to start one college with the intent of transferring out. This will stand in the way of your making meaningful friendships, developing relationships with professors, and getting involved on campus. Then if your transfer doesn’t work out as planned you will be really stuck. I’d go to the college you enrolled in with the intent of staying all four years. It is fine to throw in a couple of transfer applications but don’t count on it working out. And NYU is stingy for aid for freshman and I’d imagine worse for transfers.

My daughter had similar situation, Fordham and Baruch. She picked Baruch.
