Rutgers vs. Pittsburgh

I'm going to choose either Rutgers or Pittsburgh, I live in NJ so Rutgers would be about 10,000 cheaper a year.

Data mostly drawn from USNWR

SUBJECTIVE DATA

Peer Assessment:

Rutgers: 3.4 U Pittsburgh: 3.5

The objective comparison is very close in most categories. U Pittsburgh has the largest single advantage in Financial Resources, but Rutgers has nice advantages in Graduation/Retention Rank and Faculty Resources. Size is about 50% bigger at Rutgers, but cost is also more than $10k less for NJ IS students. The subjective data indicates that academics consider these schools as equals. Perhaps the biggest difference, other than costs and size, is in the respective cities and the role that each school plays in its community.

thanks, theyre really close any other opinions please?

anyone, please help.

Pittsburgh, the football and basketball teams are awesome. Get out of NJ and don't go the same school as everyone from your high school. That's just my opinion though.

Both are ~the same in terms of educational quality. If money is not an issue, no reason not to go to Pitt and experience something new, but if cash is a problem, you're not at any disadvantage by attending Rutgers.

I also say a push as far as quality so save the $10,000. I don't think student life at Pitt is all that special--lots of commuters.

No more commuters than at Rutgers, but yeah, it's urban Western PA vs. suburban North Jersey. Neither has an extreme amount of appeal, but Pittsburgh is a nice city, and NYC isn't too far away from New Brunswick.
