Rutgers wouold i get in with a 1200 sat score?

so hi
i applied to Rutgers by december 1 already, so i was wondering would i get in?
i have a 2.9 gpa, and my SAT score is 1200/2400 with all three parts (i know thats bad and it was my 2nd time )i live in NJ also, and oh I applied for the college of nursing in new brunswick and im still worried if i will get in or not
so would a be able to get in to Rutgers New Bruswick College of Nursing?
just asking because i applied to William Paterson and they only count english and math not writting so instead of 1200 it would be 800;(

Not likely. The college of nursing is very competative. I know a girl who had decent stats and was accepted, but not into Nursing. She’s now at another school where she was accepted directly into the Nursing school.

Your SATs are very low. You should consider one of the in-state CCs, as all schools in the state (except Princeton) will recognize the credits. I would recommend you get at least a year of CC with a 3.0+ GPA and reapply to 4 year schools.

wahh!:(but i had a good essay and lots of extra-cc’s and volunteer services and community servic!

like i had mentioned earlier i had a good essay (as said so by my English teacher) and extra cirriculars such as: Volunteer services:
Library
doctors office
Chorus
Gifted and Talented
Book Chat
Stage Crew
Community Service:
Vacation Bible School
wouldnt all of these things count to?

Not a chance for New Brunswick Nursing. People with amazing stats don’t get in to that program - they offer them Newark instead. With your SATs a community college is the best place to start.

u should apply to schools like njcu, ramapo, and richard stockton, rutgers is out of your league, even the camden and newark campus

But how is Rutgers out of my leauge?i know so many people with lower grades they got in
if i cant get into rutgers is there any chance of getting into Ramapo?they are way more selective
i already sent my sat scores but never applied should i apply there?

Rutgers stats from 2009:

•Test Scores – 25th / 75th Percentile
•SAT Critical Reading: 520 / 630
•SAT Math: 550 / 670
•SAT Writing: 530 / 640

While your GPA is marginal, your SATs are horrible will kill any chance of admission. Rutgers admits on stats and really only looks to ECs & Essays for scholarships and borderline applicants.

Sorry is this is not what you want to hear, but it is the truth. What county do you live in? As I noted before, look at your community college, get a 3.0+ for a year and then transfer to Rutgers if that’s what you really want.

but if i applied for a financial aid would they look at it?
i love in Bergen County, but i didnt even apply to bergen community college well i am halfway in the process

would i get into Ramapo college?how about William Paterson?
nursing is pretty much what i want
well if i dont get in i wanted to do respiratory therapy but felician is expensive and community college is just embarrising

There should be no shame going to CC in NJ. It is one of the most expensive places to live and many people start out there for financial reasons and switch to a 4 year program. If you end up at Rutgers, you will have a Rutgers diploma with no * indicating you started somewhere else!

Do you have any healthcare experience? Have you considered joining your local first aid squad to get hands on patient exposure?

sorry kiddo - my kid’s GPA is like yours but his SATs are 2050/2400 and Rutgers still wants to see his mid-yr grades before making a decision. You should be able to get into WP and Ramapo.

Really?because willy p only counts 2 parts of the sat so instead of 1200 its 800 and their average sat score with both parts is 1000 they sent me a letter and asked me if i want to take it again or try the act
so should i try the act and would i get a better score>would i get into willy p?
do you really think i can get into ramapo?its 2011 and its supposed to be a selective good schol and i may not get in,some people in the top of my class are going there i dont think i can compete
are you really sure i wont be abe to get into rutgers?but i hreard they dont only look at sat scores other thing to

Yonkers, I’m sorry but I really don’t think you will get into Rutgers. Rutgers admissions is primarily numbers-driven and they really don’t look at extracurriculars and essays very much–they simply have too many applicants to read through that stuff very closely. You would need to bring up your SATs significantly (to over 1000 at least–probably more–on math + CR) and get your GPA up over 3.0 to even be looked at. If your SATs aren’t strong enough for William Paterson there is no way they will be strong enough for Rutgers, which is far more competitive. Frankly, Ramapo is a reach for you also. William Paterson or starting at a CC is really your best bet. Bergen has a lot of strong programs and lots of kids start there and transfer to some great 4-year schools. Don’t give up; just be realistic.

okay i guess I understand, maybe
so would I get into to Willy p?
how about ramapo?

Get a 1500-1600 n ur in at those two colleges expect rutgers

it is already jan, i took teh sat twice i really dont want to take it again, i might take the act
so there is no possible chance at all that i will get into Rutgers NB college of Nursing?not even a slight chance?what about on the waiting list?
if i didnt apply to nursing would i be accepted?

Most likely not with a 1200 take it again n study very hard n take the act also. I mean a 1200 is 300 points below the national average. Definitely take both tests again its the best thing you can do. Where else are you applying.

Honestly, I would have been marginal as a OOS freshman with a 3.5 GPA & 1720 sat. Luckily I’m a transfer and raised my SAT… I hate to say it, but there isn’t even the slightest chance.

don’t milk the cow for more than it’s worth. Instead of trying to get into all of these college, why didn’t you try harder in high school?

so would I get into William Paterson or Drexel University?
i applied there
