Just wanted to get some opinions from the CC community, is Rutgers University a good school?

They have multiple campuses, which one are you specifically referring too?

In what aspect? For what major? We need more to go on…

Overall it has a very good to excellent faculty. The main campus(es) in NB range from OK to just awful. They reflect that they were built as different schools at different times and mostly on the cheap. RU is one big missed opportunity.

I have a high opinion of that school, as far as public schools go.

I live in New Jersey and most natives to the state apply to it as a back up. It’s an okay school, but the name is pretty recognized. It also depends on which campus you’re planning on attending.
Academics: It’s good for an average school, but if you have above a 3.6 you should definitely aim higher. I know that the New Brunswick campus has a pretty impressive premed program that’s well-known. Most of my classmates go to Rutgers if they want to major in medicine or engineering. If you want to major in any kind of science it’s pretty good.
Campus: No matter what campus you go to, none are really nice. There’s Camden, New Brunswick, and Newark. New Brunswick is pretty nice, especially compared to the other two. Camden and Newark are pretty much the ghetto/a mini city. It’s usually pretty easy to find a party, but the frat jerks usually overprice the cover charge to get into parties. Drugs and alcohol are very popular, of course it is since it’s a college, and weed is especially popular.
Honestly I know a lot of kids who went there from my school and they’re absolutely miserable. I don’t recommend unless you have no better options or if you have visited it and really liked it a lot.

Just the opinion of a native New Jersian…
