hey guys in all likeliehood i will be attending rutgers in and major in econ with minors in stats and english......lets say over the first couple of years i do very well and get myself a 4.0......would i be able to get internships at the top firms and then eventually work my way into an analyist job...........thanx for any help

good grades and networking will get you far

I go to Rutgers. In any given year, from the business school, most of the big companies come to OCR for back office positions - ops is pretty popular. I would say that <5 people every year from RBS end up in front office bb positions.

@lurker, that’s really rough. There’s around 1,000 / class?

Maybe I was being a little harsh but its only a hand full. I wouldn’t be surprised if 5 was the number though.

RBS graduates around 1000/yr, but you have to take into account that the majority of the majors wouldn’t be eligible from a non-target. I can’t give you the exact count on finance majors, but its about 200 i think?

the closeness in proximity to NYC though makes Rutgers an nontraditional non target.

there has got to be something being so close to the city.

but im not talking about rbs…im talking about SAS with an econ major

It should be obvious enough from the discussion that the odds are heavily stacked against you, but there have been people who have done it. They are the exception and not the norm.

Be real with yourself: are you an exception to the “rule”?
