S admitted to Rice

Northstarmom...no need to. Go to Rice thread. She posts under lindseylujh name. She posted her stats and it is also in her profile....a real strong candidate, and she owes me two scoops of icream.

1530, 800, 790, 760, 4.12, hardest course load including getting several self study courses approved for credit.
Two summers at Brown taking credit courses.
Leadership -- 1st student in Wyoming to be on the school board, President of NHS, President of Global Connection, model UN delegate (multiple),
National Merit Semi (probable finalist),
Coca Cola Semi-finalist,
Presidential Scholar nominee,
established elementary homework help program for the school system, tutor, mentor to elementary/Jr. high girls,

Wow, that is so impressive!

I'll add, DD did everything herself. She did her own self study for the SAT starting freshman year. She badgered me into letting her attend college in the summers, found her program and got herself admitted. She planned her entire high school career virtually on her own. She selected her college lists, filled out her own apps, wrote her own essays. Yep, I'm proud. She was also crushed when Yale deferred her EA. She needed this one.

Congrats to Simba & Son (wasn't that a TV show?), and Bandit & Lindsay. Be sure they make it to the rodeo, a great, great time.

Ok OK don't make fun of me.....this used to be my son's screen name when he was in 10th grade. Then I started lurking and became addicted and he gave up. So I just started using his screen name.

I'll add my congrats to simba and bandit_TX! My son is also a freshman at Rice and loves it. We need to spread the word more of wonderful a school Rice is.

Congrats to your son. My son is also a freshman there and can't imagine himself anywhere else. It was worth all the hard work to get in!

Congrats Simba, Bandit, Digi and assorted progeny! We are two down (admits) and four to go. Nails are very short.

Simba, Bandit: wonderful, feel happy for them, and you!

Bandit_TX What a thrill for you and your daughter. I've been reading her posts on the Yale site, and have been so moved by her writing. I hope she will be so happy!

Simba, what great news. April seems a long time for RD parents/kids. How wonderful to be sure of such a great school.
