Come on y’all, cheer up!
It’s not the end of the world, and there are much more important things in life.

I hate to be all cliche, but it really is who you are as a person that will determine what you will do in the future. Sure a college like MIT will help you a lot, but in the end, it matters what YOU can do, and not what the college can do for you.

Here’s a song to hopefully make y’all feel better:
[Forget You (College Rejection Version) - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

I think that perhaps the most applicable song is:

Vienna - Billy Joel ([Vienna-Billy Joel (Lyrics in Description) - YouTube](<a href=“Vienna-Billy Joel (Lyrics in Description) - YouTube”>Vienna-Billy Joel (Lyrics in Description) - YouTube))

Some might wager that what follows is a message to myself that I’m projecting on the rest of you, but - quitcher cryin’, kids! I worked for four years with the intention of coming here just like the rest of you have. I did what I loved and did it well, so of course I learned a lot. Don’t feel like you wasted time trying to apply here, even if you think you could have done fine with just a couple less APs, or setting down that instrument you didn’t really like practicing. You know what, though? You still got something out of all that, and will go to whatever college you eventually accept as a more awesome person for it.

MIT is not a one-in-a-million place, and your life is not ruined because you didn’t get in. You will go on to the next four years, make friends, get a bf/gf, party a lot, work a lot, game (Zerg players represent!) a lot, dance a lot, piano a lot, and do whatever the hell you want to do. College is awesome like that. You’re going to love life no matter where you go, unless it’s like… Four C’s by the Sea, or something.

As for what music I’d recommend: give these a try.

Who said we were crying? Personally, sad songs have a way of making me feel better in the end. That’s kind of the purpose of this thread. Listen to some depressing songs, get all your sad out, and move on by tomorrow morning.

Eh, you know how people get about these things. That was really just a message to them, I guess.

No Surprises - Radiohead

For my daughter, the song “So What” by Pink seems appropriate:

She’s a rock star, she’s got her rock moves, and she doesn’t need MIT LOL.
