Saddam Hussein is dead

The Iraqi ppl hung him? Sure they hung him, but the US handed him over! They didn't have to do that...they condoned this action. Plus, it was the Shi'ite minority that hung him....these were uneducated individuals. It's not liek they had some totally organized form of government going for them. Plus by allowing the Shi'ites to hang on a holy day of the Sunnis...this exemplifies conflicts and America is well aware of this. Bush wants that conflict....

Wow I just watched the video of him being hung. It appeared to be in a shack, or a very seedy establishment to say the least, and he was surrounded by what looked to me hooded thugs. Seriously if we had to execute him this soon was this the most humane, and more importantly smart way to do it? Time will tell..

^I love all of these ellipsises of disapproval

seriously, all of the anti-US, pro-evil dictator posts have ended in the classic "..."

And thank you to Fides, for being a voice of reason among all of this idiocy

And Kenzen...the "sketchy shack" he was hanged in was the same place where he carried out all of his ordered executions. Great location, no?

wannabazn88,

Just because someone doesn't think that the US did good with the execution doesn't mean that they're "anti-US" or even pro-Saddam. That's a logical fallacy of the worst kind.

I can think that the Nuremburg Trial was a kangaroo court and not be pro-Nazi.

wat about bin laden...

I love to see some people who try their hardest to convey their "true voice of reason," and that they are the ones holding the candle of reason while the rest of world's filled with darkness and evil. Just funny:)

Unfortunately, my very young padawans, the world isn't just a black and white picture.

"Hanging on a holy day?!?!?!?! That's just wrong. I'm shocked that a country founded on the principles of liberty, freedom (which includes that of religion) and democracy would do something like that. That's just....wrong. I can't find any other way to put it."

Tell that to the Iraqi people. They're the ones who hung him -- and danced for joy afterward.

Let's not oversimplify the situation. The day was a religious holiday for Sunni Muslims, but not for Shiites. Hanging him on a holy day was an insult to Sunnis, and naturally, Shiites, who make up 60% of Iraq, wouldn't care, especially considering they've been oppressed by Saddam in the past. I guarantee you that the Sunni Arabs were not dancing in the streets.

thank you for saving me a lot of typing! The biggest problem with the hanging of Sadam Hussein was that they did it after only being charged with shiite-related offenses. There were still dozens of other charges which he still had to face.

(feels good to be back on CC!)
