Safe schools with beautiful campus?

So I love the look of campuses like Rhodes College or University of Oklahoma. I love that gothic, old-world look, and I feel like it really motivates me and makes me have a sense of “wow! Im going to college!” whenever I visit schools that look like this. Can anyone suggest colleges that are within driving distance of new jersey that look like this, that would be safeties by my stats? Obviously its not all about the looks of a school but if anyone has any suggestions that would be great!

Im basically undecided on my major at this point, leaning either towards business or education

Top 10% of HS Class
ACT: 30 Composite, 31 Superscore
Senior Officer in Student Government, Member of NHS, Volunteered over 200 Hours, very involved
Mostly honors and AP classes in HS

Colleges already on my list: Fordham, BC, BU, Pitt, Syracuse, Villanova, Richmond

Miami Ohio. Not gothic, but very traditional and beautiful.

Trinity College in CT

How about Trinity College in CT and Catholic University in DC?

Maybe University of DE also (although I was there a long time ago but it seemed Gothic)

Providence College? TCNJ? (I haven’t been to either but the architecture looks pretty in photos at least)

@wisteria100 @londondad trinity has been on my mind for a while, but it doesnt have business or education as majors. @lalalemma TCNJ and Delaware are campuses that are mostly white columns and brick buildings (i have no idea what the style is called) but both are beautiful when i visited!

Im looking for something gothic, or a lot of stone architecture.
I guess I can add in match schools as well if that makes it easier to find schools

Catholic U in DC is really really Catholic, fyi. It’s got great education but some of the social scene are catholic, like they don’t fund the LGBT association/ club, while funding other clubs. That sort of thing, wouldn’t allow Angels in America to be performed on campus.

Sewanee is very traditional looking, not driving distance from NJ though. But safe and super traditional

Vassar is very gothic and traitional

Hobart and William Smith has some gothic-looking bldgs

St Josephs in Philly

Ohio U. (Easier to get into than Miami of Ohio, beautiful …though not Gothic). U of Toledo…Gothic, decent academics, easy to get into.

Indiana University has a gothic feel. Nearly all the building are of Indiana limestone so almost no brick there. The campus is beautiful and Bloomington is a very good college town. It is large and though I’d consider it a strong match rather than a safety but based on your description it would seem a good fit. It is larger than most of the schools you’ve mentioned.

Doesn’t Princeton have kind of a gothic feel and is in NJ? Although it’s probably a reach school I was struck by the campus when I visited in high school.

I concur with @Dustyfeathers: If you are considering Rhodes, then you should definitely also consider Sewanee. It is located in a beautiful rural region of southeastern Tennessee, and its Gothic vibe is unsurpassed by any other campus in the nation. It would be a good match for your stats.

Kenyon, in Ohio, is another rural LAC with a historic and beautiful campus; however, its admission rate has been falling in recent years, so it would be more of a low reach than a safety for you.

Susquehanna University in PA is absolutely beautiful–amazing scenery, all classic brick buildings–not the exact style you described, but worth a look. Your stats also make you an EXTREMELY competitive candidate for merit aid.

BU does not have a beautiful campus. It would be a match, not a safety.

You might want to look at James Madison in VA. Strong business and education majors. Like Syracuse the quad area of campus has the kind of feel you are describing.

@TomSrOfBoston I liked it when i visited, especially the buildings around Marshal Chapel and the location on the water. I wasn’t listing those schools as safeties, just as colleges I’m already considering so people don’t repeat themselves in the thread.

I think Lehigh has some Gothic buildings.

Virginia Tech also has Gothic buildings according to this article:

University Of Richmond has a really nice campus, and so does Kenyon. Those I’ve seen. They’re really nice. I wasn’t crazy about the look of Lehigh myself, but lots of people love it.

I agree about Sewanee. I’ve seen that one too. It’s really beautiful.

One more note about Sewanee–it has a 13,000 acre campus. Gorgeous.
