Coastal Carolina University. Myrtle Beach, SC. BA in Musical Theatre with as many credits in Theatre as some smaller BFA's have.

kjgc (or anyone), could you share more about Coastal Carolina? Freedom in choosing classes (like, could you take more dance or voice than is required by the curriculum?), chances of getting in (specific numbers would be fabulous!), etc.? I just went to their website and it sounds like an interesting back-up option. Thanks for any info!

CCU offers some freedom (electives) and some options as to class choices. Yes, you can take both more dance (there are more classes than appear in the current catalog) and more voice (although you are required to take voice each semester.) Acceptance is currently based primarily on grades in core classes as determined by the university. Auditions for scholarship purposes are held, and potential students are encouraged to attend.

While CCU does not require auditions yet (that will begin within the next two years as we move to the BFA) we attempt to mold our incoming classes through scholarships.

The faculty is mostly new to the University, with 7 of the nine at the University three years or less. All have worked extensively in the profession, and still do.

Please let me know if I can answer any other questions.
