I’m at Vassar now and I think it’s a perfect fit. I’m majoring in the sciences and it’s great. The only reason why Vassar is known for history or english more is because more students that attend like those subjects, but the science department is amazing…SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES to succeed and get help. A good number want to be premed too. There’s a lot of help if you want to be premed. If you decide premed even as early as freshmen year (you don’t have to that early to begin with though), the professors and premed office help start planning your four years here. And the campus is just BEAUTIFUL. I have not gone one day without thinking that the campus is gorgeous and I’m one of the luckiest college students to be able to be here. But when I was applying to other schools, I did apply to University of Rochester, not as beautiful, but good in the sciences and I presume good overall in other activities-sports and arts (music especially…Eastman school of music…one of the top in the world). I also applied to Johns Hopkins…I presume nice campus and definitely very strong sciences. But I chose Vassar because students here work hard and care about academics, but when yuo walk through the campus, it doesn’t feel competitive at all and it isn’t cutthroat. Point of my comment is that Vassar gives you all the support that you need if you seek it.
