I am a Southern California student (incoming senior) that would like to stay within the area for college. Could anyone suggest some safeties and matches for me?

There aren’t really that many college options in California aside from the UC system.

I think you’re a match for the mid-tier UCs (UCI and UCSB) and you might be admitted to UCSD if you’re fortunate. Your GPA is rather weak for these colleges; but, of course, you have a higher SAT.

You could also consider Pepperdine if you’d like, but private school is expensive. If you intend to do business or engineering, you should strongly consider Cal Poly SLO.

For safeties, you have UC Riverside and the CalState system.

What is your financial situation? There are some private schools you can look into if your parents will help pay. Depends on what you plan on majoring? For match or reach, you can also try Chapman, LMU, Redlands, or USD.
