Safeties/Matches Potential English Major with Typical CC Stats

Honstly Wigwam, your parents are right about NYC. IMO NYC schools really lack the community feel of schools in almost any other city in the US. NYC is safe, but its also not super friendly nor does it cater to college students.

I hate to dredge up a dead thread, but I really hate not responding to people’s posts.

Actually, I live in Nebraska. UNL is my State U, but I didn’t want to identify myself (a few people I know come on this site) so I put “State U” instead of “UNebraska.” UIowa is actually out-of-state, but my parents want me to apply nevertheless. On the issue of NYC, I’m sure you’re right; I’ve been trying to tell my parents for a while that crime in New York isn’t any more prevalent than , say, crime in certain neighborhoods of Omaha, but they won’t pay for me to go to Columbia. I won’t take out hundreds of thousands in loans.

Callie, I don’t have room on my list for JHU. I ruled it out because of what other people said about the atmosphere, and also because it’s just another reach on my already reach-heavy list.

I asked my parents how many colleges I could apply to on their nickel, and they said eight, which is rather restrictive. :frowning: I guess I have to cut ~3-4 places for my final list, although I suppose I can spend my own money on applications. This definitely rules out Harvard. From slipper’s list, any more schools I should cut?
