Our 20-year-old daughter is a finalist for a great summer internship in a lab at Temple. The position is perfect for what she wants to do, and she’ll be hearing their decision in a few days - but if she gets it, do we need to think seriously about whether the campus and neighborhood are too dangerous for her to live there safely for 8 weeks? They are not providing on-campus housing, and told her she would need to find a sublet (they said there’s a Facebook group for Temple students looking sublet their places during the summer). I’m concerned about reports of high crime rate and recent shootings of students that I’ve read in other threads about Temple here.
