Ohio University, Miami University (Ohio), Tulane should net him good merit.
My D got full tuition at University of Pittsburgh with similar stats.

@bookworm - my son doesn’t want to attend a huge university. I think he can find safeties that he likes.
Is he planning to use lacrosse for admission help?
@twoinanddone - he is hoping to be able to use lacrosse to get into some of the more selective LAC. Right now he is in the middle of the recruiting process. He is not competitive for lacrosse in the Ivy League and some of the other universities on his list don’t have lacrosse.
we’re going through a similar conversation with my D (and hoping her act moves from 33->35, we’ll know in a week). have you looked at McGill? Great school, great campus, great city, lower costs than a U.S. university.
^ McGill is quite affordable but a giant public (think UMich with less student resources).
If the OP is a FL resident, the S should definitely definitely look at New College of Florida.
I think it’s a hidden gem.
Plus…is this student eligible for Bright Futures? That would be like getting merit aid at the Florida publics…
I suggest Fordham - the Rose Hill campus in the Bronx. Fabulous, small honors program. Small classes with lots of attention from the professors. Merit $$$ for high stats students. Beautiful contained campus. Twenty minutes to midtown Manhattan on the metro north line which stops right outside the main gate to campus.
^agreed, but it is a safety and I think meets OPs ask, including the plus of a lower price.
@thumper - yes he will be eligible for bright futures. He doesn’t want a large university.
Thank you all so much. I am currently traveling and so is my son (lacrosse trip for him). We have some research to do.
