Safety/match schools for a 4.0 uw GPA, nmsf?

I was wondering if anyone could give me a few recommendations on some safety/match colleges. I'm looking for a college that would, preferably, give me good scholarships or financial aid. My parents are willing to pay, but it'd be nice to get some, or a lot of, money :) I'm applying to ~10-12 schools already.

Brief Overview:

GPA: 4.0 (unweighted)
SAT: 2370
AP's: I have 6 so far - four 5's and two 4's (in Chem and music theory)
Prospective Major: Cognitive Science (possible double major or minor in music with history/theory focus)
Family Income ~140k

EC: Good, mostly music and school leadership stuff
Rec letters: Good

I'm a nmsf, and hopefully will be a finalist, so yay for scholarships!

What I want from this mystical college:
- non-majors can be in the orchestra
- either an honors program in a large university, or a small lac feel
- double majors, or interdisciplinary, self-designed majors
- a stress free admissions rate :)

For matches I've been thinking of Amherst, Tufts, Smith. Also Oklahoma, for their nmf scholarship. Any suggestions?

Fordham

@neatoburrito, thank you I’ll look Fordham up

Northeastern maybe?

USC tends to give a lot of scholarship. There was a student who got full tuition off while another half of the tuition. If you’re looking around Fordham, then maybe LMU, St. Mary’s, or Northeastern.

thanks @iamcalvin! I am already applying to Northeastern. They don’t have the specific major I’m interested in, though.

@MizuRue, I was under the impression that USC’s scholarship deadline had passed already. I’ll give them another look. I believe their music program is extremely competitive…

might look at Holy Cross-very good lac with beautiful campus 1 hour from Boston. HC offrs some merit scholarships and meets 100% demonstrated financial need.

<a href=“Cognitive Program | Psychology | University of Pittsburgh”>http://www.psychology.pitt.edu/cognitive</a>

http://wings.buffalo.edu/cogsci/</a>

Is this what you’re looking for?

I think Suny Buffalo’s merit deadline was Dec 15. For Pitt you have to submit application with supplements by Jan 15 I believe for merit consideration.

Yes, USC scholarship deadline was December 1.

Oberlin? Also I don’t think Amherst can be considered a match.

I forgot to mention I’m a senior. So any place that’s scholarship deadline hasn’t passed yet will be more helpful to me…

@Corinthian I went to Amherst’s DIVOH and they said it was more like 50% acceptance rate for people that went. (It was a really informative visit, EDIT: for any juniors reading this). Of course, that’s still basically a coin toss, hence me searching for additional colleges.

Yes, @mommdc, something like that, but for undergraduates. I was thinking something more like this: http://ase.tufts.edu/psychology/undergraduate/concCognitive.htm</a></p>

Okay, so I’ll go research Fordham, Pitt, maybe USC. Are there any good public universities? What do you think about Michigan?

Try Pitt, Juniata, Ursinus. They are generous and wonderful communities that will support you.

Alabama also is generous.
