Safety or Reach for early action?

I don't have that one dream school, unfortunately, so I'm definitely not applying early decision to anywhere.

However now I have a problem deciding where I want to apply early.
I was going to apply early to "safety" schools like Georgetown, Villanova, (I know they are great schools and they're not completely "safe"; I just think I have a decent chance)

but I have pretty good SATs, above avg/decent grades, and good ECs, so I was thinking of applying early to Harvard or Princeton because of that whole higher chance and looking more interested theory thing. Those are single-choice though, which kind of scares me.

See the reason why I would apply to safer schools early is because my parents and I like the idea of not having to wait sleeplessly until April and risking that chance of not getting into a college at all..

What should I do? :/ Please help!

If these schools are truly EA, then you can apply to more than one, right? I think ED or SCEA only limits you to one early app right?

yeah the safety schools i’m considering are all early action and not single choice

bump :S sorry

ED does not limit you; you can apply to others EA (not ED) but must withdraw the others if you are accepted ED.

SCEA limits you to one, except that you can also apply to your in-state publics.

Those are the normal rules. Check each college to make sure.

I don’t want to apply anywhere early decision though…

My question is whether I should apply to a safety or a reach school for early admissions. Will it increase my chances at ALL, or should I just play it safe and have the comfort of knowing I have at least a backup?
