Safety school for engineering

Stats: Jr. at good private school in Ohio. No class rank. 3.83 UW GPA with very strong transcript by end of senior year (AP Calc AB and BC, AP Chem andn AP Physics, AP History…blah blah). Currently 1480 on SAT (700/770) and 32 on ACT without much (any) prep. Plan to retake SAT and hope to raising reading above 720 to at least have a 1500. We will see.

Pretty sure I want engineering. Like a more urban environment. Prefer midwest or east cost. Probably nothing south of NC or west of CO. Love the schools in the 5-8K students range, but heres the thing…many of those are super competitive (Carnegie, Wash U, Case). Also really love Michigan and Northwestern, but I have no hooks at all. Ohio State is probably a good safety but it is literally in my backyard and I want to get away.

All the craziness in college admissions this year has me a little concerned and want to have a few REAL safety schools and matches on my list. Would love any thoughts. TIA.

Colorado State would probably be a match, maybe even a safety.
