Safety School in New York

Ok I got a disapointing 26 as my ACT composite score and 1790 for the SAT and I'm looking for a safety school on New York. Any Suggestions?

Any of the SUNYs and a number of the Catholic schools would do just fine. Actually the majority of schools in NY would be fine with your scores. What else do you want in a school other than the acceptability of your scores?

Definitely good education, I want to major in either Chemistry or Biology to eventually go to medical school. So the school should have a good reputation in the sciences
A small student, faculty ratio
Friendly atmosphere
As it is a safety it sgould be esay enough to get into
Decent Campus, location doesn't matter much could be urban, surburban or rurual

Those are the basics I'm looking for

Are you looking anywhere in NY? If so, a lot of NY schools will be fine (as said previously). Personally, I'm looking into Ithaca as a safety and it has most of the qualities that you listed.

Not sure if it is a safety but SUNY Stony Brook is excellent in the sciences.

Not saying these are safeties, but here are a few possibilities to check out. You'd need to check the departments. Canisius, Le Moyne, Manhattan C., College of St. Rose, Iona, Hofstra, Hartwick, Pace, Adelphi, and the SUNYs. I think that those should be either safties or matches assuming your gpa is decent with a challenging course load, good essay, and some ECs.

Going along with northeastmom's suggestions of Canisius and Le Moyne, I'll add Siena College as a possibility. Also look at the SUNY's.

Thanks guys you've been a real help.. oh yeah and my GPA is 3.88

Maybe Ithaca College?

Definitely look into Elmira College. They are expanding the number of students they will take next year and most people don't know about this.

Fordham University

Try Marist. I've heard that it has a really nice campus.

Ithaca College or Siena College

Union College

also Skidmore

Alfred (co-ed), Wells (newly co-ed, formerly all women) and Russell Sage (all women, but with co-ed divisions).

Check out Elmira College...they are expanding freshmen enrollment by about 100 students.

Thanks for the answers i'll be looking at Wells, Elmira and Alfred. If anyone has any more suggestions feel free to reply.

Thanks again! :)

I would give Hartwick College serious consideration. They will like your solid gpa and they are SAT optional.

Hartwick is a great college. and like a couple people said, Elmira college is also great. i'm going there next year, and i personally think it's a great school. very small, and known for it's education.
