Hi.
So I just got rejected from Tufts university, which was my top choice college that I desperately wanted to be accepted. Now that I have to apply for regular decisions, I felt that my college list seems to be too risky and I needed to throw in some more safety schools. Here is my current list
Brown
Haverford
U Penn
Emory
Wake Forest
Duke
Washington University St. Louis
College of Holy Cross
Brandeis
My stats are
3.9 UW/4.2 W GPA
32 ACT (33.75 superscore)
800 SAT Chemistry
790 SAT Math lvl 2
790 SAT Biology
I have no ECs as I acquired some health issues after having a brain tumor and was unable to participate in any activities other than the school itself (I get tired very easily due to certain hormone deficiency).
I am planning to major in Biology and region/religion/tuition are not factors for me. Please suggest me colleges that can be considered safe for me, although I feel like there are no such thing as safety schools after being denied from Tufts…I had been frequently daydreaming about my college life in Tufts until I got the result haha…
From your other threads, money seems to not be a consideration. Since you are a pre-med/bio major, many colleges will be fine for this. You will want to find colleges with plenty of research opportunities outside of the classroom. LACs in the south that are safeties for your stats are Hendrix, Rhodes, Eckerd, and Rollins.
Grinnell is not a safety, especially since the OP has not shown interest. Also, is your GC mentioning your health issues in their recommendation? I would give them permission to reveal some details, too (sometimes “health issues” are mental health issues, and you want the colleges to know that it wasn’t that). How about St. Mary’s Colllege of Maryland? It is the public honors college in Maryland, but I think you would get in. It is rural, but with a sort of summer camp feel. Franklin & Marshsll is strong in the sciences, so consider them as well.
