I am a rising senior in high school applying to Bowdoin, Bates, Colby, College of the Holy Cross, Davidson, Colgate, and Washington and Lee. As you can see, all of these are very selective schools, and I am in need of a safety school.

Here are my quick stats.
GPA: 3.88
SAT: 1970 (retaking in October)
ACT: 31
I have great ECs, so don't worry about that.

Do you have any suggestions for a good safety school that's a small liberal arts college, NOT IN THE MIDWEST, and not complete crap but I could have no problem getting into? Bonus if they give out good merit scholarships.

Thanks CC!

New College of Florida. It’s an excellent school that’s definitely on the rise. If I’m correct, it had more Fulbright scholars than any other university last year. In fact, I wish I had applied. It has an acceptance rate of over 50%.

It’s a shame you say that, because U Minnesota - Morris is an excellent public liberal arts college with bargain tuition and decent merit aid.

I am interested in similar schools, and although UVM is much bigger (10,000 students), it had a very similar school. That will be my safety. Wheaton might appeal to you (I hated it), but Union might my a safety/target for you.
