Safety Schools for 2100~2200?

Hello Everyone!
I was searching for college like all the other rising seniors and I found that I didn't find too much safety schools :(
To introduce myself,
I am an Asian and moved here when I was in 5th grade.
English is my second language :)
I got 2150 on my SAT and 4.0 for Junior year.

EC-
Volunteer at local hostpital since freshmen year (300+ hours)
National honors society
Robotics club Mechanic
Link crew leader (high school transition program)
Volunteer at community center and senior center (70+ hours)
President of Asian culture club
Tutor for geometry class at my school

Classes-
Graduated from biotech academy, took 1 honor math class, 4 APs (all 4s), will take 5 more AP classes in senior year.

Although I believe my ECs are not great compared to others, I take pride in my origins and how I came to adjust to life here so far!

The colleges I plan to apply for are-
University of Washington (probable)
NYU (probable)
UCBerkeley
Cornell
Boston University
Emory University

The last four, I think are the "reach" schools for me.

Please be kind and recommend me some safety schools!
Oh I'm in the state of Washington!

Thank you everyone :D

BU is a safety. Or do you mean Boston College?
I am in the same score range and my safety schools include UIUC and GaTech. NYU could be my safety, but I originally wished to apply to Stern (which made NYU a reach…), and I crossed it off my list after the campus visit. NYC is not the best place for a college, at least for me. So if you’re applying to CAS at NYU, you might as well consider it a safety.
I would say Berkeley and Emory are low reach/high match. Cornell is a reach for everyone. U of Wash is a good safety for you.

How much can your family afford?
intended major?
state of residence?

I can only assume that you are interested in engineering or STEM majors since you were on the robotics team and did the biotech academy. If that is the case, and you are from Washington state, here are some good choices:

Oregon State (safety)

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (match/probable - this school offers outstanding engineering programs and an excellent biomedical engineering major if biotech is still interesting for you)

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (safety)

University of California, Irvine (safety)

University of California, San Diego (match/probable)

Georgia Tech (match/probable)

Virginia Tech (safety)

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (match/probable)

There are tons more schools, but I know and like all of these.

Softcalculator:
Thanks for replying!
I meant Boston University. And now that I look back, UW, BU ad NYU are all my safeties!
I really wanted to go to Berkeley but their out of state acceptance rate is very low :frowning:
I’m not into technology, so I will have to pass on some of your suggestions, but thanks!

barrk123: My family is not worried about the cost and as I stated above, I live in Washington
My intended major is Neuroscience and Molecular biology.

OsakaDad:
Oh, although I am in robotics, I am not interested in technology.
I intend to major in Neuroscience and molecular biology to get into Med school :)

I would definitely apply to more UC’s! You will have a lower chance because you’re out-of-state, but most UC’s have very good science programs. UCLA students have profiles very similar to yours. UC Santa Cruz would be a great option, known for its science. I also think UC Irvine would make a good safety. If you don’t mind paying the application fees, I would apply to some more UC’s because while most aren’t as competitive as UCB, they have strong science programs, and you’re likely to get in with that SAT score. Just as low matches/probable matches.

I wouldn’t say NYU is a safety.

I would say UWashington and BU are safety schools - that may be enough especially if UW has some kind of rolling admission and you know you get in by December. It seems like you are looking at schools in east coast cities so you might consider: Fordham - Rose Hill in NY (has nonbinding EA so you will hear by December and you might get merit aid if that helps) and GW and American in DC. If you like the south you can think about Tulane (which also has nonbinding EA).

University of Arizona would be a safety.

Does that mean they are willing to pay $60K/year for a school (like NYU and the UCs)?
