Safety Schools for International Relations

For someone with 2020 SAT, 3.95 uw gpa, good essays and ecs?

I would still like strong IR but in a school that is not “elite”

Some schools I was wondering about were James Madison, Clemson, and University of Washington

Bumppppppp

George Washington and Macalester both have great IR programs and neither is particularly selective.

American, Syracuse, and U Denver come to mind. For a VA resident, GMU.

Does GMU give good aid for oos students?

I will definitely be applying to GW and American but I also want a school where I will have higher chances at merit aid.

Any more suggestions?

Boston U

Also, consider Ohio State. It has one of the best structured IR programs with loads of thematic options. Indiana U is also a good choice. These and some other Big 10 schools (Michigan, Wisconsin) also have very strong programs in languages and area studies.

College of William and Mary, though I’m not sure how good they are with aid for oos.

Macalester, GW and W&M are NOT safeties.

I think American would be a good safety- easier to get in than the 3 listed above and they’re good with merit aid.

^ However, as has been pointed out by UCBalumnus in other threads, American can’t really be considered a safety. They use Level of Interest as a major input for admission. http://www.american.edu/provost/oira/upload/CommonDataSet2011.pdf

OP, look here. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/848226-important-links-automatic-guaranteed-merit-scholarships.html

Georgia Tech is supposed to be an up-and-comer in IR.
