Safety schools in good locations?

Im looking for safety schools to apply to for electrical/software engineering. I was born and raised in CA so location is very important to me. I’d prefer to stay on the West coast. It’s also important to me that he college is fairly liberal. my stats are:
Southern CA student
4.0 unweighted GPA
4.35 Weighted UC GPA
2050 SAT
(Taking ACT and subject tests next month, practice tests at 35)
Varsity swim since Freshman year
Academic League since Freshman year
Been working as a photographers assistant at several studios simultaneously since sophomore year ( photography is also a huge hobby of mine)
Worked as an office assistant before that.
Schools on my list are currently:
UCSC UCLA UCSD UCB
CalPoly SLO
SJSU
Harvey Mudd

Wouldn’t CalPoly-Pomona, UCSC, and UCR be safeties, or near-safeties for you?

Harvey Mudd is not Safety school. Class of 2019 SAT Scores CR 670 - 760 Math 730-800 Writing 680 - 760 SAT Math 2 750 - 800 ACT 32-35. But Mudd is great school!!

I think the OP is just listing all their schools so we can see what is already on it.

Safeties must be affordable. How much will your family pay?

What is your M+CR??

most schools, except maybe bible schools or BYU, are going to be fairly liberal.

My family can afford a UC or a private college with a generous scholarship, my M+CR is 1400. @mom2collegekids
@woogzmama I really haven’t looked into UCR because Im fairly familiar with the riverside area and don’t really like it. However, I haven’t actually visited the UC campus there. I’ve heard cal poly Pomona is a commuter school, something I am also not fond of. Are the things I’ve heard about these colleges true?

45% of Cal Poly Pomona freshman live on campus. It’s more residential than many CSUs like Fullerton and Northridge.

I think that UCSC has pretty strong Computer/Engineering programs, and solid links to Silicon Valley. It is certainly liberal, and it’s not part of the “Inland Empire.” It ought to be a safety for you.
