Safety Schools on the east coast?

You need to sit down with your parents and starting using the Net Price Calculators available on the website of each college on your list to assess your financial reality.

I agree I need to make more use of the assets the colleges have like the net price calculator

@Tyler56790 You also need schools that will provide merit money if your budget is around 25k, insofar as safeties are concerned.

You would probably get the out .of state tuition waiver at Florida State , making it easily affordable for you

American University
Drexel
Dunesque
Ithaca
La Salle
Pace

Did you take the PSAT?

Another option, a little more off the beaten path, is to consider studying in another country.

University of Saint Andrews in Scotland is excellent in International Relations and beautiful to boot. You can also look at University of Edinburgh.

Also look at McGill in Montreal or University of British Columbia.

You won’t get any financial or merit aid at these schools but the tuition is much lower than the US and your $30K budget should about cover it. Plus, admissions are very much stat driven and your stats are strong.

The NYS publics (SUNYs) are in your price range.

@doschicos hmmm interesting option. I’ve honestly not thought about international schools.

@nw2this no I missed the psat unfortunately

@austinmshauri do you have any recommendations of which suny I should look at?

U of SC would likely give you in-state tuition rate plus some merit for those scores. Highest ranked public honors college if you want to take a look online. Look at Washington semester in honors college.

@scmom12 why would they give me in state tuition? Please forgive my ignorance. Also a washington semester is a big plus for that school

@Tyler56790, Stony Brook, Buffalo, Binghamton, and Albany all have poli sci majors. I think some of the SUNYs in smaller communities (such as Geneseo and New Paltz) might offer it too. The colleges are different sizes and in different types of locations, so you’d have to visit each website to get a feel for the campus and what they have to offer. Stony Brook, for instance, is known as a commuter school. Geneseo and New Paltz are both small college towns, but New Paltz is ~2 hours from Manhattan by train. Albany is the state capital. Each campus has its own vibe and benefits. Which one you’ll be interested in will depend on what type of campus you want.

@austinmshauri wow thank you I’ll definitely have to do more research on those thank you

See, all these have tuition reductions (the out of state portion) based on merit

Tufts, Boston College, Fordham, American and Maryland College Park.

@“Erin’s Dad” wow the tuition reduction really lowers the cost thank you for the link

@glido I have not heard much about Maryland college park I’ll look into it thank you!
