I am having incredible trouble finding any safeties that have linguistics majors. I was wondering if anyone could point me towards schools that have a 30%+ acceptance rate and a linguistics major. I would strongly prefer a school not in New England, but I’m not sure I can be that picky anymore.
Thanks!
Check your own home state public universities. It is very likely that at least one of them offers a linguistics major.
Google is. Here’s one list. http://www.myplan.com/majors/linguistics/colleges-that-offer-this-degree-16.0102.html
Then check the Common Data Set for any school that looks good to see their acceptance rates and how you compare to the admitted students (Section C).
U Mass has a prominent grad program so I bet they have at least a decent undergrad, probably better than that.

Montclair State University (NJ) has a Linguistics major.
Check out UMass Amherst, SUNY Stony Brook, Boston University, UConn, SUNY Buffalo.
Ohio State has a good linguistics program, as does UMD-College Park.
Truman State may be a candidate, depending on your stats.
Linguistics major:

Not too expensive:

And there are automatic and competitive scholarships:

Thanks so much for all of the responses! This was super helpful
