Safety Schools

Hi, first time posting here. I’m trying to find some safety schools. Although any suggestions for match and reaches would also be greatly appreciated.

Looking for a relatively small college ( around 5,000 or so) preferably in the Northeast with a good history program as well as programs in Film, Mass Media, Journalism and communications. I had be interested in William & Mary in Virginia but I couldn’t get in. Any similar schools with lower standards?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Drew University perhaps? It’s a shame you are a guy because Seven Sisters would give you some great matches.

Ithaca College-Park School of Communications
American U in DC

Oh, hey, Civil War Reenacting? Ever think about Gettysburg College ¶ ?

yeah, and I love the area but I hear it was kind of a party school

Vassar! Top notch school that many people at my school are applying to as a safety/match.

Don’t worry if a school has a “party reP”…partying goes on everywhere. It doesn’t have anything to do with you or your academics.

My kids go to a so-called big party school. yes, they go to a few parties now and then, but most of the serious students don’t have time for any such excesses.

How much will your parents pay? That will have a big impact on where you should apply.

Others can answer this…is it an issue that both his Subject SATs are in history?

Vassar is certainly not a safety or a match for the OP. It would be a definite reach.

I live about 10 minutes from Vassar. Much too close for me anyway.

How much will my parents pay?

well, we will most likely have to take out loans.

New Paltz would be a good match though not a safety.

*How much will my parents pay?

well, we will most likely have to take out loans. *

???

are you guessing that? Have your parents said how much they are will borrow and can afford to borrow?

if they haven’t given you an amount, then it may not be a good idea to assume that they are willing to borrow for a pricey school.

You need to get a budget from your parents as to how expensive of schools you’ll be able to go to.

There’s no point in looking at schools that cost $50k per year, if your parents can/will only borrow $10k-20k per year.

Please ask your parents.

Echoing Erin’s Dad with the New Paltz suggestion.
