Safety Schools

What would be a safety school for someone with a
3.8-3.9 GPA
2000-2050 SAT
750+ SAT 2 Chem and Math 2
internships , plenty of volunteering and the usual ECs
Excellent recommendations
Decent essay
Some Financial aid e.g $20000 for a $50000-$60000 expense school

Are you looking for large or small college? Any geographic preferences?Do you have specific academic interests? Your stats are similar to my son’s, and his safeties were Guilford and Eckerd. Willamette also offered him a scholarship close to what you’re seeking.

You probably qualify for some of these:

Some of these schools with automatic admit criteria may be within your price limit:

You might get merit aid at Dickinson.

Look at your instate colleges. What state are you from?

Wait I just saw you are studying in Pakistan but a US citizen. Basically a school where you are above the 75th percentile for SAT and GPA that has an acceptance rate of 50 percent-100 percent could be considered a safety. Just do some research for a school that you would like even if it doesn’t have the prestige you want.

Use supermatch on this website, don’t put in your stats, and for selectivity check both selective and open

@woogzma , size is not an issue. i don’t live in America, despite being a citizen. So I’m not very concerned with geographic preferences. Though, I’d still prefer colleges present in biggish cities.
And btw, which university did your son go to?

I’m going to apply for chemical engineering. And can Drexel, Florida Tech, Purdue be considered as safeties for me? Even though Purdue is really good, its acceptance rate is low ,plus my SAT is above its 75% range

You are probably a safe bet for admission but probably not the finance part. Look in the Financial Aid forum at the pinned threads for some good merit aid options. Also look at U Delaware which used to have good merit aid (I’m not sure now).

My son is at New College of FL. I don’t think Chemical Engineering is available at any of the colleges I mentioned. I think that Drexel is pretty safe for you, academically, but I don’t know how much scholarship you’d receive. Engineering colleges are more selective, as a rule. I recommend applying to a lot of public universities. Unfortunately, the most elite public universities are very expensive, with little aid available for out-of-state students. I suggest looking at some threads under “Majors,” to ask more about Chemical Engineering programs.

Florida Tech and Drexel, definitely. Purdue, maybe it is hard to say if it is a safety or not.

You know what, yeah I guess Purdue is a safety for you
